Looking at the list, it seems to me that they’re trying to rein in conservative hate speech, either by stopping conservative teachers from posting discriminatory signs, or by stopping conservatives from complaining about progressive signs. They are in a very conservative area.
But in the process, they are pissing the progressives off, too.
Yes you want a doctor cat but a lawyer dog.

That seems like a lot of work just to make time work more easily in base 10. Rather than that, we could achieve a similar result by simply switching our basic math system from base 10 to base 12.

The best jokes are based on reality.

Just living in Texas means women cannot get the best medical care.

what horrors are they trying to escape?
Maybe they all developed phobias of their daddies’ emerald mines.

If that was the proposal, then maybe the end product would have looked like these ones.

bypassing a requirement that parties in a lawsuit must have adverse interests
I think this is the most central point. Our courts are adversarial. If one party controls both sides, Trump in this case, then the two sides are cooperating, in this case, in favor of Trump and against the government and the people. It perverts the very basis of our judiciary.

One of the weird things… If you let entertainment become AI, then eventually, maybe everybody will have some weird AI generating exactly the sort of entertainment they want. They’ll never feel any need to branch out or expand their horizons. Also, their entertainment will be different from anybody else’s, so who are they going to talk to about it? Another AI? What is this dystopia?

Despite the memes, apparently, Twinkies go stale pretty soon after they’re made.

Okay, here is the relevant quote from the article:
According to reports, 22-year-old student pilot named Rosario already had a private pilot license but was still building up her flying hours, meaning she was required to fly with an instructor or safety pilot.
This is the only explanation of her previous experience in the article, and as a person with no experience flying at least, I found it confusing. In my mind, if you get a license, you shouldn’t need an instructor with you. But regardless, I do think it’s obvious that a person who was “still building up her flying hours” was not “doing the training only to maintain currency.” So, I think this is evidence that you found the article’s explanation confusing, too.
Since I didn’t understand the article’s explanation, I deferred to the understanding of the commenters.

Or, hear me out… I read the article and that’s how I knew that information wasn’t in the article.
I’m really conflicted about you. Part of me really likes people who encourage others to read the articles, but reading the articles isn’t the only important thing. Understanding is also important.
How long are we to wait? If we wait too much longer, we’ll have waited for longer than the Confederate States of America existed.

According to other people in this thread, she had at least enough flight experience that she should be able to land solo. So, the risk to her was from the trauma he inflicted, if it impeded her ability to land safely. Explaining it here actually makes it seem even more similar to the truck driver. It’s entirely possible that if you hit a person with a truck, you’d freeze up or your mind would blank or you’d otherwise be unable to control yourself well and cause further accidents before you could stop safely.

The similarity is involving people in the act and leaving them to deal with extreme trauma.

It’s similar to people who end themselves by stepping in front of a truck or a train. It can be extremely traumatic to the driver.

Those things are all good ideas, and I have literally used all of those things for my mother, only to see that she will carry medicine around and then put it down mindlessly in strange places. One time, she even just held the medication in her mouth so long that a capsule dissolved in her mouth. Yes, she has dementia, but most of those things happened when her dementia was pretty mild.

Yeah, why not have Democrat leaders talk to him? If Democrats lied that he was worse than he actually was, the truth would come out as soon as he left the hospital, and the liar would look really bad. Because they would have said things that hurt Mitch and his family.
But if Republicans lie that he’s better than he actually is, as they are likely doing, they can easily get away with it by saying that it was for his family or some shit.
Two reasons immediately come to mind. One, whatever else this is, it’s a limitation on free speech. The more wily reason is that conservatives don’t seem to think about things too deeply, so if progressives put up a fuss, conservatives will simply assume that they’re winning.
