My computer is at least 12 years old by now and according to the Steam hardware survey the majority of people on Steam has a PC that is worse than the Steam Machine. I might get one as my new desktop if the price is not too high.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What DDNS providers you guys recommend?English
1·28 days agoFor my server I bought a domain on loopia.se and pay for no other features than the domain name. On the Loopia website I then changed the DNS nameserver to Cloudflare and use a script to update the IP of my network. Cloudflare has some package you can install on Linux to update the IP but I never tried it.

121·1 month agoIt sounds like your ISP is blocking access. Have you tried using a different DNS server? My ISP blocks thepiratebay and I easily get around it using the Cloudflare DNS server.

2·1 month agoIf you haven’t seen it yet there is CachyOS if you want something Arch-based. I have been wanting to try it but for now I am still using vanilla Arch on my desktop and my laptop.
The last seasons of Game of Thrones were total garbage compared to what they delivered when they had the books to lean on.
Breaking Bad is great all the way. I would also like to recommend Vikings. The spin-off is not as good as the first one.
Sorry to hear that. In my opinion it’s a
greatfantastic metroidvania and puzzle game. It reminds me of Zelda and Portal too. Isn’t there a way to disable head bobbing in the settings or some other option to reduce the motion sickness? Have you tried reducing mouse speed? If noting helps then you could try contacting the developer about it. Maybe they can fix it.

4·2 months agoWhat are you talking about? We cancelled all public events and asked people to not have parties. We also encouraged people to get the vaccine among other things.
When the government asks people to do something in Sweden then most people here will listen and take their responsibility.

41·2 months agoMy suspicion says that Valve use AI in VAC these days. I have no proof of anything but in my opinion it would be the smart thing to do. And something major happened in TF2 a few months ago where they finally managed to ban the rampant bot cheaters. Could be AI or it could just be Valve finally taking the problem seriously.

3·2 months agoThe main problem for developers isn’t that it’s hard to implement. It’s the fact that EAC runs in userspace on Linux and is pretty trivial to bypass.
With that said, I want Linux to be THE gaming platform. Problem is that server side anti-cheat is not as widespread in gaming as it should be.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Your old android phone is begging to be a cheap home server!English
111·2 months agoIf you have around 100€ you can get a mini PC on eBay to start self-hosting all kinds of things. I have two at home with Proxmox installed and it’s very easy to use. Especially with the Community helper scripts to get containers installed and configured for a variety of self-hosted services.
A Lenovo Thinkcentre or HP EliteDesk Mini PC works perfectly as a home server. I use it to host game servers, Home Assistant, personal wiki, Jellyfin, Audiobookshelf, SearXNG, PiHole and more.
God damn that crash was brutal. For his own sake I hope he died on the spot 😬

7·4 months agoSure, you might think it’s weird and annoying to say something like that in an introduction. But please enlighten me, how is being Queer a kink? And how is a man wanting to wear women’s dresses a kink? If thinking of queer- and transpeople makes you horny/angry then that’s your problem. They have a right to exists.
Why are you so triggered and scared of people being different? People have a right to express and be themselves.
Kinky shit should stay out of the public, but that goes for everyone. Not just LGBTQ+ people.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Ubuntu mod team takes anti-queer "Don't say gay" stance.
483·4 months agoSaying something about yourself as an introduction is custom. Mentioning that you are queer is not weird or political. It someone sharing a fact about themselves. Me saying that I like girls is also not a political statement. It’s a fact/trivia about me.
The fact that LGBTQ+ people get shit for just existing in society is fucked up and that’s the problem.

263·4 months agoWhy does it matter if it’s impartial or not? Just go read the thread on Ubuntu discourse if you want to verify the information? It’s all there. The mod fucked up. Simple as that. It’s good that someone brought this to light.
