Linux@lemmy.ml•I just tried Hannah Montana Linux and it is glorious
2·6 days agoTo be honest, I’m just running HML as a live image from a USB drive. This computer normally runs Arch. I got the webcam working when I first installed Arch, but it broke at some point and I haven’t had the energy to fix it. The AUR has the proprietary firmware, and drivers are part of the kernel, so I’m not sure what the issue is.

Linux@programming.dev•Hannah Montana Linux Is Back, and Yes, It’s Real
70·8 days agoIt is silly, unnecessary, and probably not something most people will use every day.
Well now I’m going to unironically use it as my daily driver.
Looks like the magic smoke leaked out.

I would rather permanently cut off all contact between Earth and Mars than have to program day/time conversion between them. Especially with time zones and leap years.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Am I going to reduce a room’s temperature covering a huge hopper window with either paper or reflective aluminum foil, but leaving the window a bit open when the sun shines directly into the window?English
8·19 days agoYes, covering the window will reduce solar heating by a lot, even if you just use basic blinds or curtains. You can also get stick-on window film for cheap that might work better than blinds. You could also use a
to get airflow without exposing much of the window to sunlight.

guns@lemmy.world•The MicroReflex red dot for the LCP MAX seems pretty terrible.
1·24 days agoAgree with stock iron sights for carry. Speed is more important than accuracy for short range, and you have less things to snag on clothing.

guns@lemmy.world•The MicroReflex red dot for the LCP MAX seems pretty terrible.
2·24 days agoI have the same problem with any small red dot sight. The window is just too small, it takes me forever to find the dot when drawing quickly or under pressure. Any red dot that’s big enough to be useful is also too bulky for carrying. The only red dot I use now is on my nightstand gun that doesn’t ever have to be holstered.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why don't county jails open up their free bed space in times of severe cold and severe heat to the homeless and others and just give them their own cell? And can leave whenever.
4·29 days agoI don’t think most people want to see poor people hurt, I think they’re just apathetic, especially to problems that are far enough away to ignore. Raise my taxes to help someone a thousand miles away? Hell No! Donate to the local Salvation Army? Here’s $20.

Can confirm. I checked the author’s notes in Paine’s Common Sense and he specifically mentions the Chipotle in the Old Corner Bookstore.
