  • I too have evolved from pizza convention. Not just no cheese, but no tomato either!

I make a flatbread (with spelt flour, and a teaspoon of beetroot powder, and a teaspoon of cayenne pepper), and top it with curry sauce instead of tomato, and roast hemp kernels, … and kimchi, balsamic, maybe chicken|beef|prawn|lamb|scalops|whatever, and a few pieces of dates.

Could use cheese, could use tomato, but this is just better. ;D

It seems bad, in the initial ineptitude of atrophied epistemological ability, and the clashes of world views of those who’d succumbed to naive realism.

Maybe we could have done with at least Walter Cronkite going on a rant about atrazine and other hormone disruptors, and the insane greedy sociopathy of the economic system that would incentivise deploying such, and not allow them not to deploy it, because that would be in breach of the bought statutory regulations “to protect the shareholders” that do not allow a corporation to not take any action that would maximise profits for shareholders. … Sure [/s]. That rule was put there to protect the shareholders. Why then is it having the effect of not just letting rotters get away with poisoning us for profit, but mandating that they have to!?

As was introduced to me, breaches of Duty of Care Law fall under 3 categories. Incompetence (not criminal, but you should lose your job), negligence (can be criminal), and intent (always criminal). So you can see why politicians try so hard to appear incompetent. Lets them get away with murder.

I’ve heard rotters genuinely espouse, like it’s a good idea, “because homosexuals have more expendable income”. :O

Or maybe it’d be better if we all learned to stop depending on some guy to tell us what’s going on (or to use as an icon of wrongthink), whether it’s Alex Jones, or Walter Cronkite, or whoever else, and we go look into things for ourselves, and stop atrophying our ability to be curious and look into things ourselves, and to do our own thinking.

It seems bad, in the initial ineptitude of atrophied epistemological ability, and the clashes of world views of those who’d succumbed to naive realism…, and it is, but it’s not so dire a prognosis ongoing. For a start, more and more of us are seeing more of the problem space, looking upstream to where it flows from, not just reacting, not just clamouring for a solution that they know not was already primed, nor sticking their heads back in the sand and parroting the party line, mocking any outside the groupthink’s in-group, to terrorise everybody straight, into the totalitarianised psyche that terrorises and totalitarianises everybody else all around, driving deeper into worsening atrocities seen ever more as necessary virtues. … Every utterance of better sense, dispels the madness, no matter how poorly taken in the moment[1], sows seeds of destroying the totalitarianism, or at the very least preventing it from growing malignant.

[1: oh how many times uttering nuance has one cast as part of the polar opposame groupthink. lol. “he said atrazine! he’s one of them! get him!” lol. ever worth checking if some totalitarian tartar got on my tunic. lol. none are perfectly immune. those who think they are, are the most deluded under the hypnotic psychotic spell. “Listen to those who seek the truth. Run from those who claim to have found it.” … or go up to them and either explain what they’re missing, or better yet, socratically query the truth they claim to have found, and let them find their own ignorance by it. I’ve still to get any worthy skill at that.]

I do oft wonder about the Dzhanibekov effect, and what the inertial effects (direction/strength/duration/curves/etc) would be like at each location on the spinning object, and if Earth’s Large Low-Velocity Provinces (LLVPs) or Large Low Shear Velocity Provinces are sufficient tributary oscillation to trigger a flip as some interpretations of the evidence suggest has happened to earth before (most recent suggestion I heard, this may have happened 700,000 years ago, iirc ~ or was it 700 million… I forget), … and in that moment, would there be locations that experience an effective loss of local gravity for seconds?

If such is going to happen (or just a magnetic flip, or a corona mass ejection, or a X100 flare, or a meteor bombardment, a rogue planet flyby perturbing orbits, or whatever other calamitous disruption to the pleasant habitability of Earth), to be safe, I think I’d rather have a spaceship to fly away instantly in, than stay home. (I guess humans should not have been industrially sabotaging and suppressing that arc of human made technological innovation for a century or two.)

  • *Ahem*

    mcedit

under sung hero of easy tui text editors. [Has controls on screen.]

overlooked because it’s part of mc, and thus does not show up in the text editor categories in package managers and websearches?

could do a similar THGTTG bit for it. … or other parodies of other stuff… idk, my brain not conjuring such things with ease just now.

(And yes, I missed the reference, at first, too… Thought about responding with some contrived towel elaboration).

  • Removes [your first step to be able to remedy a problem] your awareness of what’s going on around you in the real world. [Many people feel very unnerved by it because of this aspect.]

… I was going to share a link here to whatever first video I found of any of the many videos of thieves sneaking into people’s homes while they’re oblivious on VR, but someone has created a VR game called thief sneak, where the wearer of VR can play a thief sneaking into people’s homes, making it too hard to find the videos of that really happening. The potential for irony now, seems obvious…

Anyhoo, beyond that flooding-the-zone, plenty else goes wrong, born of that aspect, and more. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=VR+fails
