AppImages don’t have any kind of update method do they?

Debian repo is usually really out of date. Fedora is less so but often I’m still not getting the latest versions.

I agree with you there, installing new software on Linux can often be quite a pain if it’s not available on flatpak. Repos will be out of date, appimages don’t auto update, grabbing a binary has no easy way to add to the start menu or taskbar and also doesn’t generally auto update.

Even if it is on flatpak then I often end up dealing with flatpaks annoying permissions blocking normal features like streaming my screen in a browser, which is even more obnoxious.

I still can’t get hardware acceleration for video working on my laptop after months, videos players and browsers struggle to play back anything, something that works perfectly on windows with zero setup.

Cloudflare is quite bad at blocking much of anything malicious in my experience. This isn’t going to accomplish much.

Since this is based on web analytics, I suspect most of the ‘Uknown’ traffic is AI bots and other scanners, so I’m not sure how that really affects the data.

I guess technically they are generally linux based, but not a desktop OS.

Comes from the corporate mindset where only growth is good. Just existing as a company that’s makes stuff for a small group of people is somehow ‘incorrect’ to these crazy people.

True, I don’t know if they already do it, but limiting media streams to 480p like cell providers do on some plans would probably lower congestion a lot. And maybe limiting large file transfers over a certain size to a lower priority and speed.

Are 3d printed guns even a problem? This whole thing is just a way to destroy peoples ability to do anything on their own, or repair anything.

Seems like every other 4x4 has one on the roof, every camper, people even mount them on their motorcycles.

It seems like lots of people do spread false info about graphene, either intentionally or just through ignorance.

Especially important to look out for false info with someone like brax who is trying to compete with them and make financial gain from doing so.

Wait, the OP 6 is well supported but the camera and GPS aren’t working? Is pmOS + phosh different from postmarketOS and not supported as well?

It sounds interesting though, but I’d want at least all hardware working as it did on android.

It has super budget spec hardware so probably not great, mediatek SOCs are often pretty bad, and the screen being only 400 nits means it’ll be completely unusable in sunlight…

For the price I’d say get a used Pixel and throw Graphene on it, would be much nicer hardware.

It sounds like the app requires some manual intervention to start/stop tracking, is there a way to make it work like google location history where it’s always fully automatic and in the background without extra battery drain?

Some of the other apps I’ve tried before for my traccar instance had a lot of battery drain or would randomly stop working in the background, I don’t remember which ones I tried as it was awhile ago.

You can also start to drag, hit alt+tab, and then drop in another window which is how I normally do it.

What ads am I gonna see though, everything I touch daily has adblocking on it.

Almost every interesting kind of public event like that is going away due to liability issues. Liability insurance is going through the roof, and the insurance companies are forcing places to stop doing events.

Also how is speech to text AI? It has existed for decades, obviously a lot better now but I don’t think I’d consider it “AI”

There’s a ton of added friction when doing things outside the basic ‘install Flatpak app’. Security generally comes at the price of being difficult to use.

For new users it also means virtually every guide or there on fixing an issue or installing extra software won’t apply.
