The problem with the grain sector is that Russian banks are supposed to be reconnected to SWIFT. That obviously would be used for other payments as well.
900k casulties. That makes this war very likely the second most deadly war this century this far. Obviously the Second Congo War is on a whole other level and I just hope we will never reach that in this war.
On a daily bases 107 on 26.02.2025. Here is a nice website with the Ukrainian statistics in a better format.
Canada has high speed trains?
Gazprom has 460k employees to maintain the oil and gas infrastructure. The other big cost is taxes to the Russian government.
and this year will get worse, with Ukraine cutting off the last Russian gas pipeline to the EU.
Currently we are in a great time for this. Trump destroys the US economy, which means lower oil demand. China and the EU have massive EV sales reducing oil demand. Hitting Russian refineries means lower oil consumption within Russia. That means Russia has to export that oil, to at least make some money. Obviously Ukraine also targets those exports, but lower demand still means lower oil prices.
MIT license is still open source, so Ubuntu based operating systems can still be open source. The problem is that this makes it less needed that they have to be. However most current projects will probably stay proper open source projects and likely continue to use a better license.
It is not just the dependency ratio. When your population declines enough, you end up having trouble maintaining all sorts of infrastructure. That is especially bad in rural regions. If your population density falls, that means fewer people have to pay to maintain basically the same length of roads, electricity grid, water system and so forth. Fewer customers leads to shops and restaurants closing. With fewer young people, schools will close making even more young people leave, as it makes raising children that much more difficult. So larger villages and small towns tend to do somewhat fine, but villages end up with pretty much no young people and just die. Even worse with an overall population decline the biggest problems of cities, namely the high cost of housing becomes less of a problem.
It really is not just the dependency ratio, which is a problem. In fact that one is often stable, as old people die.
Russias population is about 145million, but more then half are women and a lot of the men do not fit in the age bracket. For the US the male population between 20-50 is only roughly double that.
Also India is a 1.4billion and six times the size of Texas in area. Oh and at least the Europeans understand enough about the US, to not presume they can just take the train.
Easy, do not have billionaires…
Russia is recruiting. The bigger question is when will Russia run out of men, being willing to die in Ukraine. In 2024 Russia had 29.5million men between 20-50. That is Russian statistics, so who knows how good they are, but it is probably safe to presume that running out of men is not going to be the problem. More like running out of men willing to die and that is hard to say.
It uses Bing in the backend though.
It is just how it is spelled in French.
Does the 85% of kills mean drones are the entire kill chain or just a part of it? For example would a Russian tank destroyed by artillery, but spotted by a drone be done by a drone?
Also German support with 6 Iris-T in Ukraine already and another 6 being worked on. Also 56 Gepards and 2 Skynex systems. https://www.bundesregierung.de/breg-en/news/military-support-ukraine-2054992
This lovely little talk did in fact kill the mineral deal.
EDIT: From the article
According to CNN, Zelensky left the White House shortly after and the planned signing of the mineral deal as well as a planned press conference were both cancelled.
Capitalism strives to make money. Competition means profit margins shrink. So yes capitalists are against competition.
That is one of the many reasons listening to companies is not good economic planning for countries.
1670 losses in a day are 600k over a year. Also losses are increasing. At the same time Russia has a huge population, so sending millions to die is possible.
