Because even for that multi billion dollar company their developers still don’t understand that country isn’t equal to language preference. This has been an issue since the 90’s that still isn’t solved.

I have a Nvidia shield pro currently running Plex and Jellyfin (sometimes Jellyfin cannot decode the videos and trans-coding is off), I am thinking about moving away from that and go custom Linux build on a mini PC. For live TV I have the app from my internet provider, although I rarely use it. Because the shield runs AndroidTV you can basically just install Prime, Disney, Netflix, etc. apps to run those. For YouTube I use a modified app that has ad and sponsor block build in, can’t remember which one it is, but there are enough to choose from. Everything is routed through a Pi-Hole with dns enforced on the router to use it, instead of external ones (in case an app gets smart and tries to use their own). Next to the Shield I also have an extensive DVD/Blue ray collection, most of which have been moved to the NAS that has the Jellyfin server. There are still enough things to do, but I don’t have the time to do all the things I want to do.

Dumb tv’s are still a thing but they are priced insanely high

For Twitch it does, they inline the video ads with the stream, uBlock can’t do anything about that, and if you have a blocker that does work Twitch just infinitely refreshes the stream trying to force the video ad.

Check Hardware Nexus their video, this will tell you enough https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IFVTcM28KA

Also that he was planning, or already was, sharing the data for free. They made an example out of him because he believed such data should be for everybody.

The US keeps forgetting that if they disrupt ASML they also would not get their machines. Keep shooting yourself in the foot guys.

Yeah you know, it’s not like tech savvy people have been warning about this since the very beginning, and everybody was like nah that won’t happen. You’ll never guess what happened next! Exactly what was foretold so many moons ago.
I’ve been telling people around me to get off anything Meta related ever since I found out the Zuck was manipulating the data to keep people more depressed and more engaged with Facebook.
Now you need to install a fucking app to make the dishwasher work, or you have AI features in your oven. I’m so done with all of this shit.

THE FUCKING ADS SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN THERE, THAT’S WHY I SWITCHED OVER TO STREAMING.
Sorry everybody had to get that out of my system.

Or have it dynamically update based on current usage, you running 4k video streams? 3 hours remaining, just doing some web browsing? 12 hours remaining. The will actually be useful, because if I’m using my phone heavily then the 80% won’t last me as long as just being on standby, but a death-o-clock will tell me on current useage when the battery is going to die. The fun stuff, this is already present in your phone OS, just display it on the notification bar with an xH (and M when we are running out of time) instead of 69%.

Isn’t Sony’s anti consumer stance it the whole reason Square Enix went multi platform? Why would a company shoot itself in the foot like that.

Wasn’t it like 360K downvotes?

But did Sony get that patent after the fact, or did they already have it and went after Apple for using the tech? Both are stupid, the first is just worse than the other.
we talking ps4 or ps5 controllers?

Sony is also not actively getting patents that are so broad the it stifles competition like Nintendo does, and did specifically to try and win the Palworld lawsuit.

They still do, HMD Global, a Finish company that started with ex Nokia employees and made the Nokia smartphones for Microsoft, also lives across from the Nokia headquarters in Finland and still makes dumb phones to this day:

I though that Steam required content parity e.g. you cannot create a cheaper bundle for your own storefront and not sell that exact bundle on Steam. But they have no issue with you generating keys on their platform and either sell those off for cheaper yourself (Humble bundle) or give them away.

It’s not the gamers, it’s a commission and there is a lot of misinformation on their website (it can be viewed in English). https://gameclaim.consumercompetitionclaims.com/
Also tweakers.net a Dutch tech enthusiast website had a good post about it, most of the commenters do not agree with this as well https://tweakers.net/nieuws/249010/steam-laat-klanten-te-veel-betalen-voor-games-volgens-nederlandse-massaclaim.html (Dutch only so you’ll have to use a translator if you want to read it)
People keep forgetting that in the olden days, the left over cut for the publisher was about 40% of the game value, the rest went to warehouse, shipping, and the retailer all got something. The rough estimate left over cut for the developer was 10~15%.
Now a days as a developer you can sell directly to the customer through Steam, and you don’t need a publisher or a network if you only sell on Steam. So that 10~15% cut went to 70% (till x amount of revenue and then it gets lower).
Next to Steam not being a monopoly and Valve providing all the other companies the blueprint for a success in the PC market, none of the competitors follows it, or compare to the customer service of Steam. And it seems that none of those other billion dollar competitors (Microsoft, Amazon and Epic) wants to invest in a solid platform to stand up to Steam.
That’s because the people that were willing to help you along have mostly left Reddit.
