Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How are you doing today? Life's treating you good so far?
4·16 hours agoI couldn’t sleep from 3:30-5 last night. Coughing and blowing my nose. Interview this morning. Didn’t do my readings for yesterday or today. Don’t really want to be existing right now.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can people irl be as mean as some people online?
25·1 day agoIt’s worse in real life, because it’s personal. You will experience the absolute depth of human cruelty from the people you love the most.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your most unbelievable (but true) personal story?
7·2 days agoI made the local paper when I was 8 years old. It was a cute little picture of me fixing my friend’s hair band before our may crowning. That was it.
Threads. It’s better if you want a normal social media experience (which I realize a lot of people on lemmy do not).

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do you think people from more "privilaged" backgrounds have a right to complain about the struggle and/or abuse that they went through? (eg: "Middle Class" or "Rich" family)
5·3 days agoThere are some things that are just wrong regardless of your income bracket. Eg. Let’s say your parents give your brother a vacation to Bali for his 16th birthday and they make you stay home by yourself. Even if somebody’s parents could never afford to go to Bali, they’d still empathize that the exclusion you experienced was wrong. Whereas complaining that your dream wedding gown designer was booked so you have to get your 2nd favorite is rich person problems territory.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•When did it become normalized to start passing credit card processing fees to the customer?
20·3 days agoThat’s been a thing since the beginning of the cards being implemented. In the US they’ve tried to make it illegal, but like, economics doesn’t work that way. The store owner needs to make a profit, so the fee is going to the customer.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Instead of the US Implementing The Save Act For Voter Identification, Why Can't A Simple Finger Print Scanner be how you identify at the polls instead?
2·5 days agoSo we have specific polling locations we have to vote at, and in my state there’s literally a book with a list of names of everyone who will vote that day. They mark the book as you come in. So, if I vote first, the other person will be immediately caught. If the other person votes first, then it will get complicated and depend on your local rules. I would guess I will have to show ID, talk to police, and do a special ballot, but they don’t really make these procedures public. Because voting fraud is extraordinarily rare. Also the person would need to go to the correct polling location, which there are dozens of in my city. The odds of a scammer doing that correctly are low.
