Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash… and I’m delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever!

If the German Green Party is anything to go by they will be constrained by the bureaucracy of the political system and compromises with coalition partners. Like the German Greens, I would imagine that if UK Greens get anywhere near a coalition with Labour then they’d be less critical publically but push for things to be done on the ground (like more renewable projects, rewilding and projects to combat air pollution). I suspect their social policies would be less prominent and they would fall in line with coalition agreements.
I reckon they’ll not bark or bite… just gnaw a bit.

I’ve just checked this for you. France has operated 70 nuclear reactors since 1948. The early ones were test reactors and didn’t produce electricity. The first electricity generating one that worked was built in 1956. France had only had 3 breeder reactors which were decommisioned (they were failures and one of them leaked radioactive material). It has 57 currently operating which are PWRs.
Just to be thoroughly clear: nuclear energy is about 15% of France’s final energy usage (about 70% of its electricity use). France still uses a great amount of fossil fuels and some renewables.

I’d love you to define:
to great effect
when the reality was they remained small-scale, in testing phase, were dangerous and ultimately scrapped. Next you’ll be waxing lyrically about modular reactors.

Pretty much the only sane comment in this thread.

Not true. The ones they used from the 1960s onwards were phased out by 2009. All were pretty much still in testing mode and never deployed at scale. The Superphenix (the last) was shut down over leaks and safety concerns. France’s nuclear are all now 100% Pressurised Water Reactors.
So misinformation or worse, deliberate disinformation, in this thread.

It’s a shame that this article - which correctly points out the dangers of the far-right in the UK - has too many factual errors. For instance:
May 2026, US Vice President JD Vance attended a “Unite the Kingdom” protest rally organized in London by Tommy Robinsonl
No, Vance didn’t. Vance later said he supported the demo but was not in attendance. Stuff like this needs to be factually watertight.

Give that man a job! So, where are we going to store this utterly toxic material? If you bury it there’s a chance it’ll leak into the water supply. Maybe launch it in missles at at the moon?

So, you know that all the existing waste in the UK isn’t in the ground. It’s been in temporary storage at Sellafield for decades. No plans to bury it just yet.

So it’s ok to handle radioactive waste… with a shovel?

Which one would you like me to pick? How about Iodine-129 with 15 million or so years?
Have you been reading Russian propaganda again? Breefer reactors. Next you’ll be spouting the benefits of cold fusion for skin care.

The modular (“village”) reactors don’t really exist outside of test facilities. China has one (maybe two) which they claim are operational and powering a local city but there’s not enough evidence to know whether it’s true or not. Lots of money being pumped into “research” - especially in UK - but not much to show for it. I suspect much is a scam.

I see that they’re passing round the nuclear Kool Aid. Remember kids: it’s radioactive for thousands if not millions of years. And in the UK there’s no plan for what to do with the waste. Drink up!

The Cliff Richards Stratagem?

Supposed greatest army in the world scared off by half a dozen men in builders vans who seemed to have got lost in the British countryside?
It wasn’t that long ago that it was generally accepted that you shouldn’t buy secondhand/refurbished drives. The world seems to have turned upside down.

Joseph Molloy was head of passive equity at HSBC
Of course he was.

Wasn’t Greggs doing so well that it was opening branches everywhere (we have two in our small town) plus giving employees bonuses for the profits being made? What’s happened?
What is the record of the Scottish Greens? Returning to u/PunkMonk@lemmygrad.ml’s point about bark or bite, what have they been like in coalition?
