Oh don’t forget that many innovations don’t come to the surface until companies have gotten their money out of the old ones. We miss out on a lot of technology for years because of that. And then there’s tooling changes leading to companies saying “what the fuck are you gunna do about it?” as they all keep making the same old crap. Sony had to invent the litium-ion battery for their cameras because all the battery companies were fine with making the old lead-acid stuff.

Capitalism doesn’t drive innovation, it gives into it when it absolutely has to but would prefer to not have to do anything new. New is expensive, and so the very idea of innovation is counter to capitalism’s goals.

  • Well, that and anyone who pays even a little bit of attention knows that he’s really fucking bad being a CEO, too. Money and ownership makes it really easy to cover up being an utter failure because you can pay smarter people to do your work for you and they can’t even talk back because you’ll fire them in a temper tantrum.

  • “Cutting waste”, for a conservative, is to reduce public services. They have spent a very long time putting out the idea that the government must turn a direct profit and pretty much none of them have the barest clue of what an indirect effect is. The more they crush public infrastructure the more space there is for private interests to come in and overcharge for services they don’t even really provide(health insurance, for example).

Nothing they do to streamline, especially with Elon must holding the lever, will be a benefit to the working class and the benefit to the owner class will be a few quarters of profits while they continue to descend into a place where there’s no money left for their customers to buy their products.

    There is no good coming.

The Christian baddies that will hold that against you won’t fuck you unless you marry them and you do not want to get involved in that. Good news though, if you go for it anyway, is that you only have to date them for 4-6 months before they’ll accept a proposal.

In a weird way that makes the picture better. Elon and Trump are still alive after all the horrid shit they’ve done but that guy who died, who may have been a piece of shit and was definitely an idiot, was likely working class even though they had enough money for the vehicle whose poor design resulted in his death.

Yea it’s called electrolytes, dude. Even a tiny bit of salt in the water will help a lot. It isn’t a “craving”; you just sweat out a bunch of salt and straight water will dilute you even further.

And I don’t think anyone who’s a big hydrohomie, myself included, will make fun of you for smashing a gatorade in a heatwave. I love plain water but I’ll do that if I really need something now.

  • So many serial killers are actually doing it out of sexual frustration. They have a lot of emotions they can’t process properly and act on them in downright obscene ways. They are deeply sick and sad people who absolutely, without question, deserve to be removed from society but who I can, at least somewhat, understand.

People like healthcare CEOs and even just most any shitty business owner, on the other hand, are simply straight evil. They are the people who would be fine owning slaves, and essentially do, and who don’t really give a rat’s ass about anyone but themselves. They are the people who go for seconds when not everyone has had firsts and say “should been faster, loser.” They have all the tools to not be monsters, all the freedom in the world, and yet there they are.

  • I’m not really sure if education is the keystone issue, though. It’s a big part of the arch, for sure, but it’s well documented that economic stress and resource scarcity can take even smart people and make them drop-dead stupid. There are plenty of well educated people who have been so filled with hate and fear that they’ll believe anything and hate anyone so long as it makes them feel like they’ll have some financial security.

Does the education of other countries include “critical thinking”, “propoganda identification”, or a mandatory “basic economics for the regular person so they can understand the concept of indirect benefit”? Do their existing courses even touch on those topics indirectly in ways that someone “who needs a little help” can learn enough to keep themselves safe? Not really, and that’s why we’re even seeing Germany basically make the same fucking mistake as before and it’s not even been 100 years yet.

  • Often times it’s because other people are using it. Those people can’t use iCloud but I can use Google Docs and stuff. Hell, my MacBook can hang with my phone but my own PC isn’t connected, either. And then after that, are you really gunna expect most people to use and manage two different systems?

I use iCloud for photos, Safari on my phone and laptop because they’re connected easily that way, and have a few important documents on iCloud as well like all my stuff for job applications or sheet music so that I have access if I need that stuff elsewhere. And yet I still have Google drive for some things and use Google Sheets because it’s easy to share.

Not understanding why someone might not go all-in on a specific brand is more of a lack of imagination on your part than some failing on theirs.

  • The problem is, and of course when it matters I forget the specifics, that there are many times when language is changed to soften how bad something is and it results in people not taking things seriously.

The issue here is cars being shipped in a broken state, that’s it. They recall the vehicles and force people to skip out of work or whatever to get this shit done because their products suck, and if they wanted to not deal with that then maybe they should products that don’t suck. They can also collect a bunch of these issues, seeing as they’re common, and either make a patch of several minor issues or just say that the problem will be addressed at the next service. This is entirely on the companies to save their image, not us to change our language to make them feel better.
