Android@lemdro.id•Nova Launcher could soon add a proactive AI assistant that sucks up all your dataEnglish
1·18 days agoIve been keeping my eye on this project! I am a fan but its not quite there yet for me. Adding widgets/apps to the home screen is kinda funky still, theres no support for app drawer groups/folders and a want but not a need is neofeed integration.

Linux@programming.dev•What are the more obscure independent linux distros?English
4·1 month agoI believe the drivers for pmos are all written from scratch, at least for the iOS devices. I’m sure some things could be borrowed from Lineage device trees. Their Wiki says that most of their supported iOS devices dont have anything past basic screen support, so I would guess that the shared base is only marginally helpful, unless alpine is no longer a part of iPhones (iPhone 6 is the oldest on the supported list I think?)

Linux@programming.dev•What are the more obscure independent linux distros?English
32·1 month agoI’m going to say Alpine/postmarketos. The reason I say both is pmos uses Alpine as a base, but a lot of the code is built from the ground up as its a linux distro designed to run on mostly ARM devices (old phones and tablets. Even some old iOS devices!)

Android@lemdro.id•Google Photos is losing some of its editing shortcuts to 'reduce accidental triggers'English
1·1 month agoSo it looks like currently the F-Droid release is on version 2.5.6 (Compiled Feb 11th), while the latest Android app release is v2.6.3.
Unfortunately, Immich does not currently look to be using Reproducable Builds on F-Droid, so what that means for you is you either have to wait for F-Droid to build the current app release without updating your server, or uninstall the F-Droid build and use an app like Obtainium to use the latest Immich GitHub builds.
I personally keep my Immich server in sync with the F-Droid releases, as I prefer F-Droid to Obtainium. I understand wanting to use the latest releases as soon as possible though. Considering v2.5.6 was published to GitHub Feb 10th, and there have been 4 builds, with a minor version bump and 3 bug fix releases as recently as “last week” (GitHub Relative dates can btfo) Obtainium may be better suited to your needs if your needs are keeping up with the latest updates.

Android@lemdro.id•Google Photos is losing some of its editing shortcuts to 'reduce accidental triggers'English
0·1 month agoWhat’s going on exactly? Just some simple troubleshooting: Is the server up to date; Is the app and the server version the same; Are there any logs in Immich server or in the app (Account icon > logs) that point to an easy error?
If not I’d maybe open a discussion or issue on their github. I could tell you to join their discord. i could also tell you to scream into a box.

2·1 month agoextremely bad idea considering your OS has currently gone over 6 months without a security update. Biggest CVE that comes to mind that you are currently vulnerable to is TapTrap
Sure, I can answer that for you! ☺️ Here is the answer to your question—“What is Flesch Kinkaid?”
Flesch Kinkaid was an American painter of popular realistic, pastoral, and idyllic subjects. He is notable for achieving success during his lifetime with the mass marketing of his work as printed reproductions and other licensed products by means of the Flesch Kinkaid Company. According to Kinkaid’s company, at one point one in every 20 American homes owned a copy of one of his paintings. 🫨
Wow—That sure is a lot of paintings! 🖼️ Would you like me to look into how many paintings the average American home contains? 🇺🇲
/uj on a more serious note, yeah I had to look up what Flesch Kinkaid is (without AI, the old fashioned way), but i dont feel like small gaps in knowledge like that should be the bar for people with literacy skills. Literacy is more about being able to read and understand natural language. Knowing about that specific test is not a sign of literacy.

2·1 month agoSurely you would value the convince of like, texting your significant other who is at the grocery store or farmers market the last minute ingredient for your dinner plans that night though right? Like, you wouldnt want them to get home and then you have to go back out, then dinner is delayed an hour. ugh, annoying.

op didnt say they wanted a NASA computer. they’re asking what’s so special about the tensor compared to any other mobile chipset if it doesnt do anything special.
The only thing ive seen that sets it apart is A: The Titan security chip
and B: the shittier cell antennas compared to Qualcomm
