      My dad once told me when I was young na pag naholdap ka raw sabihin mo “Hindi tayo talo” at guaranteed na papabayaan ka. I’m glad I was never in that situation malamang na-gripuhan ako.

        I kind of see where your father got it from. Honor among thieves, that kind of thing–that doesn’t make it any less stupid tho. Besides, kahit na makumbinsi mo yung holdaper mo na pareho lang kayo ng “line of work”, di yun garantiya na di ka nya papatuisin.

        But speaking from personal experience, kung kung nakatira ka sa lugar na maraming snatchers, for example, malamang markado ka na as a local, and they generally leave you alone. Tipong “Oi! Yang si Megane, taga looban yan, mabait nanay nyan! Wag nyong papatusin yan ah!” Lol!

      Edit: Ayan na naman po yung tankie daw founder ng Lemmy kaya baka maging Reddit din eventually. The beauty of the fediverse is that if the so-called dev/founder goes off the rails, there’s nothing he can do about lemmy.world.

        Di ko talaga gets ito. Maraming instances naman na pwede nilang salihan, kung talagang ayaw nila ng Lemmy, pwede naman silang mag-Kbin.

        Gusto ko sana sa wt.social kasi founder ng wikipedia yung gumawa kaso wala talaga guys. Mukhang panalo reddit. Watak watak mga alternatives

        Given the activity levels nung communities sa alternatives, parang di naman ata nag-watak-watak? I dunno about Tiles kung merong mga napadpad dun. But it seems to me that a lot of those who left Reddit congregated here. Sure, network effects sucks, but without people actually going away from Reddit, populating their preferred alternative, failing that, moving to their second-most preferred alternative, etc, and so on until their “at least it’s not Reddit” platform of choice, eh tama nga siguro siya–panalo talaga ang Reddit.

        Ang plano ko, July 1 ako magpapaalam sa Reddit, pero dahil sa disgusting outcome ng botohan sa r/Philippines noong June 19, I decided to leave Reddit prematurely.

      Ah, I almost forgot about this. I was even planning on giving RIF one last spin just for old time’s sake. Pero eh, for some reason nawalan na ako ng gana.

      The sooner I just cut myself off Reddit, even through RIF, the better.

      Ang sarap talagang mag-virtual byahe via Google street view no? I can’t imagine the amount of time I’ve wasted just going around, and around and around.

      Also, discovering places “relatively nearby” me that I haven’t even imagined. Or answering some questions that I’ve left rotting in the backrooms of my brain, like‌ "how does the Metro Manila-Rizal-Bulacan tripoint look like? Found a picture of it just now, it’s a fairly innocent-looking point in a stream. No markers nor anything. Well, mejo remote area rin naman kasi siya.

      But yeah! Even just idly exploring, with no aim in particular, is soothing.

    Just found out about YouTube’s plan to disable video playback for viewers who are using ad blockers.

    From the article:

    The company has confirmed to The Verge that it’s currently running “a small experiment globally that urges viewers with ad blockers enabled to allow ads on YouTube or try YouTube Premium.”

    The statement comes after some people began noticing a new prompt warning that video playback could be cut off if YouTube detects repeated use of ad blocking tools. Android Authority earlier reported on those tests, which prevent viewers from watching more than three videos when an ad blocker is active.

    I’m pretty much concerned about how it’d affect people who use ReVanced. With Manifest V3 crippling adblocker capabilities, Google going after entities such as Invidious and Vanced (I think‌ ReVanced is next, if not already being attacked), I think Google’s drive to make their primary business: advertising, unblockable is getting very serious.

    I could probably start watching YT a lot less, do something productive with my time. At the same time, I just feel irritated enough that want to watch YT in any other way other than Google’s way.

      I was a Vanced/SmartTube user for a long time, but when Google started cracking down on them, the family decided to pool our money together and just get YT Premium. One thing I’m going to miss is the automatic skipping of sponsors. As much as I’m sorry to admit that, Linus.

        That’s one way to resolve things, buying YT Premium and being left at peace. While I respect that, part of me thinks that it is giving in to the pressure, that what Google wants is for people to give in. Thus, even if I do have the money for it, I don’t think I would as a matter of principle.

        What that principle is, I guess at this point, I‌’d admit that I am just pretty much against what Google symbolizes–big tech swallowing up everything. And by refusing to give in and buying YT Premium, I feel like I am resisting and protecting whatever few principles I’ve got left.

        uhm… if recent confidential issue being exposed to public is what you’re subscribing to about Rendon, sorry to disappoint you but that is not what I’ll gonna do tomorrow rather I’ll make a discussion that curtails to Rendon’s old statement and challenge the popular opinions that surrounds it, I’ll view his statements that made him popular that is rebuke by myriads of netizens in another limelight and I will argue why that statement of his is actually a sound advice

        Since bukas na ata yung effect sa reddit API I expect my post to be much engaged and am ready to be reproached and to refute but still post it kahit di ganoon karami madagdag na phlemmings

    Help ya girl out pls! What happens if you send an ultra long text to an Android phone? On iPhone, it gets converted to an MMS I think? Basically the first few lines are displayed then ends with “…” then you have to click on the text so it would lead to the whole message in like another page. Is that what happens to Android phones too? As far as I know hindi rin ganun kabago phone niya. Pls help kailangan ko ng closure with the knowledge na nabasa ‘yun lahat haha

      as far as I know, normal na text padin, like cut-off ng 160 characters so kapag may sobra sent as another text iyun.

        RCS is supposed to “replace” SMS and MMS, but Apple refused to cooperate. lol

        Smart and Globe is already implemented RCS since 2019.
