“House Republicans were crystal clear from the very beginning of discussions that any so-called national security supplemental legislation must recognize that national security begins at our own border,” U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson wrote on Twitter.

They rejected the best deal any republican is likely to see on the issue for the foreseeable future a couple weeks ago. Johnson is completely and totally full of shit.

His marching orders are to keep the narrative alive that the border is unsafe until the election.

Deal on the table to fix everything they’re complaining about? Reject it.

Voters don’t pay attention, especially not his voters, so it’s safe for him and will help out any republican in a tight race. It’s disgusting, but tactically sound.

Exactly it. I’ve heard a couple of coworkers regurgitating this bs. It saddens me how stupid people can be.

He’s painted himself into a corner by failing to even try to negotiate the border security bill he was handed, but Republicans largely get their news from sources that lie, so his constituency won’t know this

But with good faith bipartisan negotiated border concessions it still disn’t pass, sounds like he’s full of shit and looking for an excuse.

Meanwhile, allied and friendly nations move away from the US, Russia and China are emboldened to move against US interests, and US foreign policy is hobbled for several years…

Reminder that any #GOP house member can “fire” Johnson.

    They are all complicit.

They are all working for Putin.

They are all traitors to Democracy.
