I’m currently trying out the Thunder app on my Pixel 4A. When I open the menu on the left side of the screen, the app always stutters. Occasionally, it also stutters when I scroll through my feed.
Thunder usually becomes unresponsive and closes itself after I open that menu, I think it might do that because I have so many communities subbed and it tries to load images for all of them at the same time.
Hey! Just wanted to let you know that I replied to the main post regarding this issue - there should be a fix for this in the next nightly build
Great, I’ll test it when it’s available.
Thunder really can’t handle a lot of subs at the moment. I’m working on an improved subscription manager.
You might favorite a couple communities you want to regularly visit instead, and access them via the search page.
Also, I’m unable to vote on comments in my inbox directly. Only after opening a comment by tapping on it, can I vote on it. Tapping any of the vote buttons while seeing the post in my inbox has no effect. Is this normal?
This is a known bug.
Hey there, are you by any chance subscribed to a lot of communities? If so, that may be the reason for the stuttering when opening the drawer.
This is a known issue and I have fix for that in this PR which should greatly improve that: https://github.com/thunder-app/thunder/pull/1452
Occasionally, it also stutters when I scroll through my feed.
Do you mind sharing if you have full height images enabled? Generally, having that on is a bit more intensive because Thunder needs to calculate the width/height for each image (as Lemmy does not provide that info directly) - this should improve once Lemmy sends back the image dimensions in their API!
If you don’t have that option enabled, feel free to submit a new issue on GitHub and I can take a closer look at it. Thanks!
I’m experiencing the stuttering with full-sized images disabled and enabled. By the way, is there a setting to change the height of images if full-size is disabled?
I have this issue as well.
Are you running a stock android or a custom ROM?
I wonder if a power optimization feature is getting in the way.
Stock Android
Seeing the other people’s post it sounds like a common issue instead of my thought
I use boost
