Newbern’s history is deeply rooted in slavery. Incorporated in 1854 as demand for land to produce cotton soared, the town of Newbern quickly developed into an economy dominated by labor camps where enslaved Black people were forced to grow cotton.

    Kinda sounds like a real shit town. I feel bad for the folks who are stuck there and have to deal with this crap.

      Yeah, I can hardly believe people can be so terrible but it happens all the time. I hope this town starts to get the turnover it needs with new leadership.
