I legitimately have zero idea why anyone expected this to work.
It’s like sometimes I live in a country filled with Charlie Brown’s who gets irrationally angry everytime I point out Lucy will keep yanking the football away at the last second.
I didn’t expect it to work, but I hoped it would. But then again, even if it did go through, it would be business as usual with Israel mistreating Palestinians the same way they have been for decades.
