This is my favorite news from all of WWDC this week. I mean that. In a small way I mean it because I so loathe this aspect of MacOS Tahoe. But in a large way I mean it because it’s proof that the rot has been rooted out of Apple’s software design team.
I’m so surprised people hate the icons. I quite like them. Both functional and aesthetically-pleasing.
Few people complain about the transparency, which is both ugly and hostile to usability.
I’ve seen a bunch of complaints for both. Both are kinda bad.
The 👆 icons 🖼️ just seemed 👀 mostly like unnecessary 🤷 visual 👓 clutter 🗑️.
Strange. I’ll take the icons over sentences that verge into paragraphs when stacked up in a menu any day of the week.
And for clutter in general, I’ll take that over playing hide-and-seek with disappearing buttons.
I can think of only one app I use that’s a riot of buttons with icons that don’t distinguish themselves sufficiently.
