The thing I liked with 1 and 2 was that they both tried to tackle big ideas of past trauma, even if it didn’t come out well the big thinking was in there while a lot of recent things I’ve watched has felt skin deep at best
Well, I’m glad it wasn’t just me, lol … I figured some people must have enjoyed it otherwise they’d have left it at one season!
If this thread is anything to go by, me and my other half were the only people on the planet that actually enjoyed Picard S1 and 2, and didn’t like S3 as much.
In that spirit, if a film is made I look forward to enjoying it even if I’m the only one.
They did do a beginner’s guide to Mastodon after Musk infested Twitter, but it does seem like they don’t consider Lemmy or Mastodon to be “serious”

I appreciate your writeup, but I’m curious as to what interesting things Godzilla 2014 tried, because I just watched that and came away thinking it had nothibg redeeming in the story or script (though the producions values were great)
It is a lisp, albeit on purpose … to further confuse things in parts of Spain with different languages the shared words don’t necessarily have that lisp!
Best thing would be to go to a Spanish speaking country for a holiday, once you’ve been forced to use it on strangers you’ll loose your language anxiety and it gets much easier (I live in Spain and work in Spanish, I’m not very good, but also no longer worried about muddling through).
When was that? Last time I tried it was a couple of years ago.
As for the difference, outside of Spain the conjugation of Vosotros (you, plural) isn’t used, but speaking to strangers is much more formal. Also, there’s a lot of vocabulary differences which can be confusing for non-native speakers.

If individuals changed, corporations would be forced to change (or would die) since they would no longer be profitable. It needs to be both at the same time.
That doesn’t negate the positive moral implication of making a pleasant comfortable life while consuming less.
Business as usual for individuals means business as usual for corporations.

Made for the Commodore C128 computer (which oddly ran Microsoft Basic), it was a simple single-screen platform shooter with the twist that you could pile up the bodies of your enemies and use them as platforms.
Both are needed, corporations must be held account able and individuals need to make changes to how they live … I don’t believe either will actually happen, but that doesn’t mean that the morality of choices over resource use suddenly get inverted just because of a bad case of nihilism.
Which is funny, it had the opposite effect on me.

Don’t be sorry for your reply being long, it was clearly well thought out and considered. I agree on all the points you’ve made … perhaps the majority of people here didn’t like Picard 1 & 2 because it wasn’t repeating the type of story telling that Star Trek has typically given, but was a whole new thing. People, generally, don’t like change and I think in the current world there’s comfort to be had in the “monster of the week” style 90s shows.
