  • I really don’t think so. The vast majority of internet users just stick with whatever simple thing that serves their need. Lemmy isn’t the most difficult thing, but if reddit already exists and is more popular then people won’t be leaving that for this if they haven’t already.

The boost in people coming here last year was a “last straw” kind of deal from people using reddit who cared enough about not supporting their shit decisions, but by now that has died down and we’ve seen from recent articles that reddit “won” and they have a metric fuckton of users.

  • I’m going to have to agree with everyone here, we won’t know anything Tuesday night and more than likely won’t know anything for a week or more.

Pennsylvania is essential to both parties and they have an absolutely absurd law that prevents them from counting mailed ballots until election night so that state won’t have results for quite some time. Tie that into the thousands of lawsuits the GOP is ready to file and the whole first half of November is going to be irritating.

  • I really don’t have much of an answer as I do this too, but I eventually forced myself to stop texting friends to vent and I kinda just vent to no one at all. I’m generally really really hard on myself, like I pretty much loathe who I am, so maybe it’s kinda “easy” for me to not text them anymore because I pretty much just started saying to myself “who the fuck cares what you have to say, you’re just bothering people.” to get myself to stop before I text.

Now I just “bitch” out loud to myself, not yelling or anything really if anything it’s muttering, but it does help to just let it out and move on.

I don’t know if you’re in a situation where that would make you look crazy or not lol I work in a factory with a bunch of angry people so it’s not all that uncommon to hear someone complaining to no one.

  • Yes, people from cities moving to rural towns does impact housing prices which should be a net benefit for the town as it bring in income from outside. It could be a negative when the volume of outsiders is high enough to displace long term residents, but in a vacuum people moving into an area that isn’t overpopulated already should be a good thing.

It’s absolutely a negative for those in the area. I’m literally priced out of the entirety of long Island now. There is literally nowhere I can afford that isn’t in an uninsurable flood zone and I’m too “worthless” to move. Anywhere with work for someone like me is just a shithole city so I just move from renting to renting in a worse environment. :/
