The register is a tech magazine, so the DIY/3D printed angle is relevant here. It’s also relevant because it would, at least to some degree, allow someone to build it themselves in places where perhaps the legality of self determination is questionable. The Register is not a place where you’ll normally find unnecessary clickbait headlines.

The way the title is worded (“a city where people are expected…”) implies this is referring to people that live in NY. I’d clarify it by saying something like “the only city of which people from the rest of the country are expected to know…”

Just my 2 cents: I dual boot Windows and Linux. I only start up Windows when I want to play a game, use Linux Mint for everything else. Some games run perfectly fine under Linux (I play a lot of Factorio for example. No Mans Sky I’ve had no issues etc.) but some are just a pain. For those I switch to Windows and then immediately switch back when I’m done playing.
It’s not ideal but this way Windows has next to no information about me at least. And as times goes on I’m seeing more and more games running just fine under Linux. Maybe one day I’ll be able to drop Windows completely.

Show the actual use case in a convincing way and people will line up around the block. Generating some funny pictures or making generic suggestions about your calendar won’t cut it.
The problem isn’t the user experience, same as with Amazon, it’s the abusive relationship the company has with its employees. That it deliberately tries to avoid labor laws that protect workers via legal technicalities.
I don’t know, I use GH copilot every day. Not to generate whole blocks of code but as autocomplete. It more often than not can finish my sentence for me. It’s makes wrong assumptions some times but it most definitely saves me time. I was just using an IDE today not set up for copilot and it made me realize how much I miss it when its gone.
