Honestly, because of my interest, as you can tell from my instance’s name and purpose. It’s the first furry instance I see and also the most popular one, that’s the initial reason.

Some browser supports blocking videos from autoplaying, Firefox is one of them but maybe chrome has similar options too. Check the browser settings.
It doesn’t matter if you’re subscribed to !memes@lemmy.ml (and !196@lemmy.blahaj.zone for good measure).
There are plenty of Solitaire games out there aside from MS Solitaire, including free and open source ones. I think PySolFC fits that bill quite well, a huge collection of Solitaire games available for Windows (and other platforms, Linux included of course).
Or KPatience if you use Linux. It’s even preinstalled if you use KDE, which I do.
Hey, they say “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” didn’t they.
I have quite a few recommendations. They are not quite non-freemium since they are free, but if your reason to prefer non-freemium is to avoid ads and in app purchases, then none of these games have them. They are all also open source and the link I provided below will be for their respective F-Droid version (note: some of these games are not available on Google Play Store):
This particular game requires far more attention and strategy than the ones listed above, but it can be played once every few minutes if you constantly save and reload (just don’t play online):
Nah, Prince of Darkness is better than Archmage
…oh wait, wrong game
Indeed it has come pointlesslygendered@lemmy.blahaj.zone
Unless it’s 2020, then saying “It doesn’t smell like anything here” is concerning…
Yeah, it’s quite bad. Honestly, that’s something I knew when I made this joke. I thought it’d be funny if the industry collapse, especially from something like this challenge…
But, I’ve also heard attempts at making alternatives that is more ethical and doesn’t involve civets, so I do hope those could catch on…
Minecraft players, somehow creating farms less ethical than real life farms:
Someone, if I’m not mistaken, have made something to help convert any reddit client to a lemmy client. I don’t remember though…
If you use firefox, you can use extensions to add any lemmy instances as a search engine options. Then, simply add an @ shortcut to the lemmy search engine options, and you’ll have the ddg equivalent of bangs in your firefox search bar.
Firefox does allow you to change search engine straight from the search bar by typing @ shortcut. An example of this by default, typing @ddg on firefox makes you search with duckduckgo instead of your default search engine.
Keep in mind that you have to type the shortcut on the searchbar first, before typing anything else.
I don’t know, ask u/spez who seems adamant to keep the sub open
Reddit would definitely not let us make posts about that. If they go as far as hijaking moderators, do you think they won’t go as far as ban anyone who mentioned lemmy?
To be fair, even if reddit does nothing to r/piracy, we’re still better off moving ship. Our reddit community is already dangling on the edge with serious threat of being banned anyway.
It’s worth building this community here just to mitigate the risk
I took the image from Bill Wurtz’s Japan History video
T’was a bad day when our old ship sank to Davy Jones’ locker.
But it brought us together here, so welcome aboard. This ship should hopefully never sank.
It can be useful in case whatever instance you’re using defederate or is defederated by another instance you want to participate in. It’s also useful in case your instance goes the way of the dodo and shut down.
Generally, I tend to focus on smaller creators, their qualities are usually better.
The channels I watched include Nitro Rad (gaming), MattKC (tech), and Modern Vintage Gamer (retro console/gaming).
