Something I’ve learned more about myself more recently going back and playing an old video game that wasn’t voiced over is that my imagination works better when reading. You can show me your world in photorealistic graphics, but it still won’t feel as real as what’s in my head when I read about it.

Books have always been like gateways to other worlds to me. Probably why my favorite book ever is Myst: The Book of Ti’ana. One of the central things in Myst as a whole is that a race of people who lived deep underground developed a technique of writing books that were literally other worlds they could physically enter and explore. That particular book in the series has most of the world building and history of the D’ni and their books.

I don’t care about kids being unattended by a parent or guardian if they are behaving themselves. Honestly, these days I tend to see more adults behaving like children in public, causing a scene than children who behave like children causing a scene.

I’m more concerned by a small child by itself getting snatched or hurt than because they might annoy me.

I started KCD2 recently and at first I was like “So it’s Elder Scrolls but no fantasy stuff so… Will it be boring?” But then I started to see how it’s not like modern Elder Scrolls, but specifically Morrowind with how deep it is despite not having magic and shit, and I’m loving it.

Though I honestly wish I could just quicksave and not need an item to save anywhere without a bed. Being able to go “what happens if I…” Then saving the game so you can fuck around and find out is like the best part of a game, IMO.

I got as far as the turning point in the story and the game just started shitting itself, with every quest script breaking in every possible way it could. So I haven’t even seen one ending :/

I’m not seeing anything said here that doesn’t differ from how wild hogs in video games work.

I never really liked the microblog ecosystem in general, and some of these terrible design ideas are copied by the Twitter clones, such as how a conversation is presented in a way that is not actually in a chronological order making it hard to tell who is responding to what.

It feels like it wasn’t intended for actual engagement and discussion. It’s made so you can blast your thoughts out into the net and then get the feel good brain chemicals seeing a number next to it go up. We certainly didn’t need an entirely new system for that, since there was already plenty of places to say stupid shit and seek validation.

I’ve only seen VOIP provided by cell providers if both parties are on wifi when making the call. I’d like that same kind of call clarity over the regular phone network. I can barely understand people over the shitty normal phone network, but VOIP sounds like they’re in the room with me, and that’s why I prefer texting. Not because of my anxiety (that’s only triggered by being around a large number of people physically).
