This is what I mean by functionally.
This is what I mean by functionally.
There is a functional difference between being pedantic about the word “functionally” and supplying relevant information.
My comment indicates that the animal can still die, your comment indicates it doesn’t age.
Do you see the meaningless distinction?
No, I meant functionally. As in practically. For all intents and purposes. As in under normal conditions.
It’s like if I said “You meant ‘searching for’ and not ‘looking for’”, when looking indicates visual searching.
In other words it’s a meaningless distinction in the usage and I would look like a real dickhead pedant if I insisted you use another word.
There is a species of jellyfish which is functionally immortal. When they get too old they simply turn into children again and re-age.
Edit: I’m not saying it’s not biologically immortal, I’m saying functionally immortal because I’m indicating that it can still be killed.
Saying something doesn’t experience aging is not the same as insisting it cannot die.
2+2=4 is not less correct because 2x2 also equals 4.
Not even as old as book Frodo going on his adventure
They don’t aspirate when they run, their organs slosh around and just sort of push their lungs enough to keep them alive.
Horses not breathing while running opened a whole new world of anxiety for me.
The Bourne Identity fight choreographer also based his fights on the fights in the movie.
If you’ve ever seen both movies it’s very obvious.
This movie came out in an era of shooting from the hip action stars, and John Cusack and his Kickboxing Instructor put down one of the best movie fights ever.
Also Dan Akroyd’s “POPCORN!” will never make me not laugh.
It’s like reading. I don’t look at letters and think “that’s an A and that’s a B”.
It’s just “Miata, Civic, Explorer, etc”
Or recognizing people. I just know all these strangers names and faces.
More bulverisms. I asked 3 easy questions for someone that has evidence to answer. You ignored all of them in favor of more emotion and opinion.
What findings?
You haven’t presented any evidence to back up any of your opinions, you just keep presenting bulverisms.
Lots of declarative statements that make you feel good about your opinion, but very little in the way of facts.
Are they the fittest athletes in the world? By what metric? Endurance? O2 uptake? Onset acceleration rates? Do you have a list of the fittest sports players on average?
What you’re really saying is it feels like F1 drivers are the fittest athletes, so it feels like women would have a hard time with 6Gs.
In reality Gymnasts regularly experience 6 Gs just performing on a set of uneven bars.
Female Jet Fighter pilots exist, lazy misogynist opinion rejected.
What even is this?
In reality, we don’t know.
Yes we do.
That is very hard to study.
It’s really not, we have stopwatches and cars already.
But we know from other physically demanding competitions that men and women don’t compete together.
This is motorsport newb, go watch golf.
And F1 is very demanding.
Yes, and several women, including Susie Wolf, have driven F1 cars just fine. There is currently a female racer in F3 and F2. There have been in F1 as well.
There is nothing stopping women from racing in F1 except prejudice.
They race in Indycar, The Le Mans Series, Super Formula, and dozens of other race series.
Tie Fighter and Dark forces were great games, but I always liked Xwing, because I was more accurate when the aiming reticle was locked center screen.
In the mid-90s my dad bought a Compaq Presario and the LucasArts games multi-pack. X-Wing, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max, and Indiana Jones. Amazing. I was like a God.
I also remember playing a game called The Neverhood, which was a claymation liminal space game. Gave me nightmares of being trapped there, but it was still one of my favorites.
No you nailed it. The meme is a poor metaphor because it implies that the system has ever been superman or that OP believes it to have been superman.
Or that capitalism only behaves like Homelander when times are tough.
For many people Capitalism has always treated them like Homelander. For many people they’ve never seen the Superman fascade.
So this meme reads as though the creator only recently learned some world history, or has some privilege in life but is becoming aware of reality for others.
You could also fix it by just having Homelander say “I’m you!”
Both images should be homelander.
This meme’s got the spirit, but not a great visual metaphor
No, my point with “functionally” is that it can be killed.
Biological immortality is a very specific concept indicating an absence of aging and the absence of an increase in expected mortality along with age.
I just mean that something can still eat it. This is an easy concept to understand if you’re not focused on correcting people needlessly.
