90s millennials really got lucky. Too young to be affected by 2008 crash and just getting out of high school to take advantage of Obamas economy. If they played their cards right they bought houses or invested when Trump was putting trillions into the stock market to prop it up and keep interest rates low.

  • Honestly, if you’re coming from IPhone you won’t find any meaningful advice on Lemmy. Everyone here hates iPhones, and will try to sell you on phones with little to no market support. They’ll tell you to wipe the device and boot load your own OS.

I haven’t used an android in years but their strength is the flexibility in apps and you have a lot more options in terms of app ecosystem. That said I don’t know how long you’ve had an iPhone but if you exclusively use the apple ecosystem like MacOS, Apple Music, Apple TV it’s not worth changing it unless you are fully committed to starting over.

The other thing to consider is the camera. If you take photos every single day the Samsung phones will be your best bet.

  • At my job managers get swapped out with other locations pretty often. One year I had a HORRIBLE manager. She was knowledgeable but treated some people like garbage and others like saints who could do no wrong. After months of trying to get on her good side I had enough and just stopped putting in any effort outside the bare minimum. And I mean the BARE minimum. Not only did my mental health improve but as I watched some of my other coworkers struggle in the hamster wheel and I realized all the extra crap we were asked to do was meaningless and the entire hierarchy was the “good ol boys” club. I’ve saved soooo much time just telling people “I have no interest in being manager” so not only am I never asked to do extra work but my expectations are lower on all my projects. And guess what I’m salary so it doesn’t matter.

I feel a little bad cuz some of my coworkers are bitter about it. Like they don’t want the work but they don’t want to be passed up for promotion and I’m watching them laughing inside because I could tell them the next 5 people that are getting promoted without even knowing their work ethic. 😂

  • About 3 years I bought a mechanic set of ratchets and wrenches and some other tools for changing my own oil and some other auto repairs. All in I spent about $500. In July, I changed my own brakes and rotors and 2 vehicles I own. On that job alone I saved over $1000 dollars. Not to mention all the times I changed my oil. I also changed my spark plugs on one of my cars and found a gasket leak that I also fixed which was probably another $500.

    Best investment of my life.

  • A huge issue is companies have u realistic expectations for new applicants when in reality the job isn’t even hard. We all know of the trope of asking for a degree with 5 years experience for an entry level position. That routinely happens and companies think they are being smart by weeding out candidates when all they’re doing is cutting out the best candidates. It’s the companies that don’t want to work. They don’t want to put work and time into finding good candidates.
