nuclear power isn’t relevant anymore.
that’s not true. you just don’t want developing countries to have nuclear power.

You thought wrong, in the past the relationship was more complicated than hate. The US still had a lot of appeal and sometimes even looked up to in terms of institutions, rule of law, high literacy, advanced economy and so on. It didn’t happen overnight, the sanctions of Iraq in the 1990s and the invasion in 2003 was the start, the genocide in Gaza is the last straw, at least for the masses.
Stallman warned us, we didn’t listen.
I’m glad to see BadVista still up https://badvista.fsf.org/blog/view/?set_language=en
At what point does this all just become sinophobia?
“Nuclear for me but not for thee”.
The optimal temperature for solar panels to operate efficiently is typically around 25°C (77°F).
It is 34°C (93°F) at night.
Agreed. Developing countries need clean and affordable energy
Not as bad as you make it out to be, and I actually worked in the US with more Chinese engineers than US engineers.
It is not illegal is it?
If it is legal, then thank you China for the free backup.
We agree on the essence. I am not going to argue over semantics and definitions. People have a right to self determination but not settler colonialism, we agree on that but disagree on the definition of Zionism. I go with the writings of Jabotinsky and Herzl.
Nothing excuses Zionism even if some opposes the actions of their government
Summer started earlier than usual this year. The Saudi government needs to install more shades and outdoor cooling, as well as perhaps reduce the number of pilgrims allowed. 1.83 million at once, not counting those without permits, is a lot at once to take care of.
At least the Fediverse exists.
Maybe shouldn’t try to create a country on someone else’s land? Refugees are supposed to assimilate into the culture, not create a separate ethnostate and expel the natives.
More countries should do the same.
Lots of countries had female heads of state. Here are some Muslim* ones.
*Mauritius and Singapore aren’t Muslim countries but have a significant Muslim minority.
Remember when Google used to give good search results?
Just capitalization and autocompleting variable names with correct grammar is handy
We have had IDEs for decades
I don’t want to doxx myself or blow my own horn. The programming I do, and many developers do, is not something ChatGPT or Bing AI or whatever it is called can do.
At best, it is a glorified search engine that can find code snippets and read -but not understand- documentation. Saves you some time but it can’t think and it can’t solve a problem it hasn’t seen before, something programmers often have to do a lot.
Not just in the US, China too is building nuclear reactors faster than any other country
No of course not. The subsidies at this point at a crime against humanity.
If the renewables are cost effective and provide stable power then I too want them to be priority -near zero risks-, but more importantly industry and business will seek them on their own. I just hold that nuclear power should be part of the mix. Take the UAE for example it is investing in both nuclear and solar.
