Nix is such a cool project. If I had more time I’d definitely give it a go.

I ran bazzite on a Lenovo flexpad with Intel und 630 graphics and it ran perfectly. I even ran mechwarrior 5 on it, albeit with the graphics details turned down so low that it looked like a mechwarrior game from the 1990s.
I’d give bazzite a go. Learning about how to install and use distroboxes is also lots of Linux fun.
Edit: also, you literally cannot break any of the immutable fedora distros. Very newbie friendly.
The truth of the matter is that we don’t really know.
Science used to use “heavenly spheres” to calculate the movements of planets back when the earth-centric system was the leading theory. When the observations didn’t match the predictions, more spheres were added to adjust.
Now we are doing the same thing with dark matter. We can’t explain how galaxies hold together, so we make up some placeholder substance that makes up the majority of mass in the universe, but is undetectable, and call it dark matter. It’s just like adding more heavenly spheres.
With the Webb telescope we are finding lots of stuff that doesn’t fit our model, which is kind of like Galileo observing the moons of Jupiter for the first time. All of these new observations are showing us that out current model is possibly way off.
That is a very healthy attitude to have!
No idea where to find such a font. But why not just do it yourself? Find a font you like, make the 3D file, and then add the positive bars to support the loose bits manually to each character that needs it.
I’m assuming that you don’t have hundreds of such cases for your stencil, of course.

How about the spheres in this image? Which colors do you observe? And which colors are they really?
I’m not trying to be condescending, it’s just an example of how our senses do not necessarily display reality.

Ask Science@lemmy.world•Has there ever been a viable alternative to the phsycialist model of the universe?English
3·10 days agoI think the main problem with this sort of logic is that it presumes that what we see is reality. This isn’t necessarily true.
Evolution has shaped us to see that which is most important for our survival. If seeing things as they truly are would interfere with our evolutionary fitness, then our brains would filther that out. In fact, this seems very likely, evidence being the many illusions that can be used to fool our senses.
If this was the case, then physical objects may not exsist at all, they would just be an artifact of this filtering effect. Roland Hoffmann is a great resource for understanding this sort of theory.

I made the jump to signal, and those that refused to come with got relegated to SMS.
But it’s not always that easy. Sorry that you have to deal with that BS.

Technology@lemmy.world•Is there way to block using app after some amount of time?English
2·13 days agoThe other comment is great, as a plan B this app is what I use for automating just about anything on android.
https://llamalab.com/automate/
It takes a little while to get used to the block programming, but it’s fun and can do lots of stuff. The free version should work fine on an alternate android-based OS, but I haven’t checked myself.
Edit: used to use. I haven’t actually been on stock android for a while, and I haven’t used the app in a while either.
Wow, that’s quite a lot of content to go through. Thanks!
I agree, but I also wonder if the Democratic party can be converted from the inside to change it’s focus.
Probably not. I just winder what the best way forward is. It’s not really clear.

You are right, it’s a worthless endeavor.
I’ll triple down if you like. Absolutism is stupid and a hollow comfort. It’s easy to vilify people, and difficult to hold cognitive dissonance about how any one person can be both good and evil.
Gates is a Epstein customer, an IP thief and a con artist. I 100% agree with the OPs original comment about him. But he also helped eradicate polio from the face of the planet.
It would be nice and simple if we could point to him in his volcano lair of villany, touriring small animals for fun, and say “there, that’s pure evil, that’s him, the devil incarnate”, but the real world isn’t a movie or a video game. It is just not that simple.
If that sort of opinion is a sign of “unthinking” to you, then I suppose I’m wasting my time here.
I wasn’t being ironic. Better is a relative term, and I do believe that gates is a significantly better person that musk or zuckerberg, or many other evil asshat billionaires. But that doesn’t make him a good person. I’m not defending him, he has greatly contributed to the rampant capitalism that is destroying our climate and society.
Things are seldom black and white in this world, pure good and pure evil do not exsist. Is it easier for you to see things in absolutes?

The two continents!? Like, the land masses themselves? Damn, this sounds serious.
