4·6 months agoIt’s a horror week for me. Currently reading Shoot Me in the Face on A Beautiful Day by Emma E. Murray and also beta reading a horror novel by someone I know. Quite enjoying them both.
Recently read Albert Camus’ The Stranger. That was pretty decent. Think I’ll go for one of his nonfictional works soonish, been intending to for a while.

1·6 months agoYeah, I’m trying to work out who I should be reporting it to. I’ll try Vodafone first, with any luck it’ll be something they can sort out on their end.

2·7 months agoCheers. I’ve got it set up as an autocorrect when I type shrugguy, doesn’t account for markdown eccentricities though.

3·7 months agoI’ve been meaning to read that for ages. The film is one of my favourites.

3·7 months agoCurrently reading Albert Camus’ The Stranger. Enjoying it so far, about a fifth of the way in.
Recently finished Abducted – Patrick Barb. Fun fast-paced sci-fi horror. I’d recommend it.

2·7 months agoNot gonna be a useful comment, but I never finished it. Nothing wrong with the book, I just had a kid and got sidetracked. I recall enjoying the part I read (first quarter-a third, maybe?). I should try again one of these days.

6·7 months agoI didn’t get it! Wonder if it’s because I’m running GrapheneOS on my Pixel. I do have emergency alerts enabled, but ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•For those who like sci-fi, how have real life LLMs changed how you view robots and AI in science fiction?
4·7 months agoBlade Runner’s a bit different since the replicants are flesh and blood, just not naturally born.
Ahh I’m such a fan of that book! I’ll give it a listen.

18·1 year agoInterviews are such a big problem. I’m autistic, mid-30s, I’ve been working full time since I was 17, but I’ve almost never succeeded at a job interview. I’ve always gotten new jobs by either knowing someone or starting as an agency temp and then getting made full time, with the one exception being an interview where I’m pretty confident that the hiring manager was also autistic.
Cheers! I’ll take a look.

The first line of Shirley Jackson’s Haunting Of Hill House is a banger, the complete first paragraph is incredible.
