A valid point, but this study tested forearms. Most of us wash our hands multiple times a day, wiping off natural oils and dehydrating our skin. We don’t do that with forearms. If we agree the benefits of handwashing outweigh the dehydration, it’s probably better to offset the dehydration with moisturizers.

It gets easier to remember when you get dependent on it and your hands hurt if you don’t put lotion on them. That might just be because I live in a desert, though.

At my first job, a fairly large firm with a few hundred people, I remember the furtive glances around the table as everyone didn’t want to be the first one to order a beer. Once a single person ordered one, several others would too. The boss was fine with it, but nobody did it in front of the boss’s boss. We never had more than one, though.

At my second job, a small, new company with 12ish people, it was pretty common. Sometimes someone would bring a six pack to share into the office on a Friday afternoon. Usually, the owners would join in.

At my current job in the public sector, the culture just isn’t there. Nobody drinks at all during work hours. I don’t drink as much anymore, anyway.

If I took a drink every time I read a lemmy post about some country hating on the current US, thought to myself “Can’t blame em”, and kept scrolling, I’d be wasted before I got out of bed.

The free will question was the main thing that started my deconversion. It’s a problem that was simple enough I couldn’t just write it off as “There’s probably an answer, even if I don’t know it.” It’s also a contradiction at the very root of religion that you can’t write off as inconsequential, like some of the contradictions in the Bible.
