I believe, present article excluded, it is generally characterized as “the worst”. :)

LOTRO
I wish that game wasn’t so damn grindy. I play it every few years for a while before I get bored with it. :/ But it’s mostly “go off and kill X of these animals” or “go here, then go here, then go here” crap. It’s fun to explore the world… except… all the areas below your level are simply boring and all the areas above your level are go-here-and-die-immediately bullshit, and there’s not really anything to do.

I generally trust Colbert and/or at least give him the benefit of the doubt. I’m sure he’s done something I don’t care for, but I cannot think of a single thing I’m aware he’s been involved with that I haven’t liked. Well, I didn’t watch the Colbert Report mostly because while I found it hilarious, I could only take that concept in tiny doses in the same way some folks can’t read too much of the Onion because it’s just too fucking close to reality. lol.
And yeah, with his passion about LotR… I’m hopeful for good things. And I say this having not watched the Hobbit trilogy once I heard they added all the crap to it. I don’t expect movies to be 100% faithful, but I want them to try. Like imho how The Expanse series - even changing up stuff from the book, but the authors were in on the writing and they basically just introduced characters sooner. It worked. And other changes they made were mostly translating from one form of media to another where different things work differently.
Nevermind, this is going to slap, hard.
I hope so. Very very much! :)

Thank you for correcting me
Excuse me, sir, this is the internet. We don’t do that shit here. ;-)

I use a TV for my monitor - last job I worked I really needed the screen real estate for excel.
I hate hate hate when I shut the computer off or power goes off and when the TV comes back on, it auto-plays some “free” streaming channel, which is ALWAYS fascist propaganda. I rush to turn that shit off just as quickly as I can. Fuck that shit.

Fine, ruin my fun of coming into the thread and quoting from the scene, then. :)

Nah, 's been deactivated.

Shut the fuck up. And I downvoted you. proof ;-)

There’s always those threads you know how they’ll go… space news about Uranus, for example. The predictability irritates some, but I take comfort in seeing all the same jokes trotted out. It gives a sense of community and belonging. :)

I hate bots, but I think I hate even MORE than bots is the new “FAAAAAKE” which is “THIS IS AI”. Like… I’m getting to the point where I care less that something is AI than I do seeing all the “THIS IS AIIIIII” whiny bullshit. Like who cares? Downvote and shut the fuck up. lol
…which I realize is a little contradictory because I also appreciate when people point out spambots so I can report them and downvote them to help keep things clean. heh.
But as I get older, my tolerance for the rampant mob misinformation keeps shrinking. I find it irritating. Get off my fucking lawn! :)

why would any country want people who are inherently more prone to crime in the first place?
Have you not heard of people trying to escape war or death threats? Countries love to gain highly educated immigrants, but many countries also open their doors in cases of need. And more typically, those tend to be poorer folks. That said, at least for the US, undocumented immigrants tend to commit less crime, although poverty is also a big factor in predicting crime. But it’s complicated and rather more nuanced than simple little pat phrases.

False. Get someone red yelling at someone blue. All the friction you could ask for. ;-)

Set one to “stun” and one to “kill”. :)

Yeah, and what’s worse is that there’s not really any good alternatives anyone has seemed to find yet. heh

Wanna know the main reason hijackings stopped? United 93.
Before 9/11 when most hijackers were basically seeking transportation to somewhere for asylum (essentially), they generally wanted the plane to make it there and survive.
9/11 used the planes as weapons, and everyone learned that if you were hijacked, you needed to go all-out to take the plane back over so you didn’t aall die.
There’s your deterrance. Little to do with the TSA and everything to do with what changed on that day.

TSA agents do an actual job.
And that job is security theater.

You should do a little reading on how many tests TSA absolutely fails. And anecdotally, I’ve read countless folks who accidentally took prohibited items on board.
TSA is pure security theatre.
