Everyone should care about the efficacy of the education system. It’s the foundation of a useful society, and essential for its betterment. This method of cheating and its rate of adoption is a major blow to a whole generation of students that will learn to have others think for them instead of leaning to think for themselves.
This is a story ask about the UK, not the US, though I imagine the situation is similar.
It’s absolutely cheating - it’s plagiarism. It’s no different in that regard than copying a paper found online, or having someone else write the paper for you. It’s also a major self-own - these students have likely one opportunity to better themselves through higher education, and are trashing that opportunity with this shit.
I do agree that institutions need to adapt. Edit history is an interesting idea, though probably easy to work around. Imo, direct teacher-student interfacing would be the most foolproof, but also incredibly taxing on time and effort for teachers. It would necessitate pretty substantial changes to current practices.
And I’ll voice mine.
Mine is neither, but go off.
Nah, I think I will.
Yeah. There are extra levels of Fucked here that people are pretending are equal. They were going after immigrants, too, but not like this.
Lol, the cognitive dissonance of whining about capitalism because their vidya game got a little more expensive. Not only is the entitlement and hypocrisy off the charts, there are so many ways to play games for cheap and/or free, the criticism is entirely moot. Don’t like the price a company is asking for for an entirely optional commodity? Don’t fucking pay it. It’s not that hard.
“Fuck you. I do what I want.” is just childish individualism, the antithesis of any stable community.
MFA helps boost security of an account. It would do nothing to prove a user is human or not.
This isn’t particularly noteworthy or concerning, imo. These two communities are probably the least likely to care about authenticity, and also best suited for a system that’s only real success is spinning moderately coherent fictions. They have and will always be most interested in drama, which is easy to fabricate.
The real danger of these systems is shaping public discourse by sheer volume of noise. They can make any opinion seem overwhelmingly supported, or tear apart opposition with distractions and infighting. And they do it with a single-minded focus spread across thousands of voices.
Craig is one of a kind, for sure.
Who would you say is closer?
All of those comments and posts will remain on instances they have federated to. Transferring posting history would necessitate resubmitting every single post you’ve ever made, needlessly and messily duplicating one user’s presence across the fediverse. And in the case of a closing instance, that bulk is multiplied several hundred or thousand times over. Not a reasonable request by any stretch.
Ah yes, the halceon days of non-stop pop-up ads and malware taskbars. /s
Not to mention that everything they mentioned was absolutely started to become what it is today. Nothing changed, they just progressed their plans over 20 years. Pretending it was all started with benevolent intentions is naive at best.

Lol. You’re not being “critical” by calling the season garbage, you’re just throwing a fit. Actual critique includes both the good and the bad, objectively. I.e. - not letting disappointment overshadow everything else, and definitely not wishing ill of the people involved.
*Also worth pointing out the incredible hypocrisy of saying the over-the-top raging is totally fine, but anyone criticizing that is a step to far. Sure thing, bud.
You’re not crazy. It wasn’t as bad as everyone says, it just wasn’t as good as earlier seasons. The people freaking out about it were either far too wrapped up in a tv show, or just get off on hating things.
Yes? Why wouldn’t I?
