I’ve lived here, in Germany, for so long, and for a huge chunk of that time I have been disillusioned with the idea that Germany is actually striving to be better, to work out its past, and to open up the way for a better future. I’ve fallen prey to this veneer of humanity.

Israel’s ongoing genocide in Palestine, with full flag-waving German support has completely made that illusion crumble to the ground. Many dead children and other innocent civilians on my timeline later, many history books later, I managed to undo the programming that the German civil society managed to drill into my head. The superiority, virtue signalling, and obedience with which German society follows the state line, with the help of state funded media, and punishes anyone willing to walk out of line has made me feel unsafe. This comes from someone that has lost family members during the Holocaust, enabled by the same kind of obedience and sense of superiority, with full media support, as seen today. Not that I’d need to justify my feelings with the history of my family, but in Germany that is necessary in order to be taken seriously.

The fact that Germany never made those that killed my family pay for their crimes. Their grandchildren sitting in the German parliament, living off of Nazi wealth hoarded by their Nazi grandparents, often from slave labor. The amount of Nazis that were still present all throughout the government, including in high ranking government positions (Theodor Oberländer), and authoritative state institutions after the end of the war. The complicity of the state to hide the ugly truth. The amount of hate thrown around at a new scapegoat: queers, immigrants, and so on. The virtue signalling of our government, the “feminist foreign policy” while traveling to Qatar and Azerbaijan to beg for gas, while also deporting people to Taliban controlled Afghanistan.

Germany has never worked out its past. It just created a sort of smokescreen to continue business as usual while fooling everyone that it is better, that it somehow got rid of the same kind of fundamental way thinking that enabled the Nazis to get to power in the 1930s. Now we’re standing before the next elections, and the next Nazis are more than likely to come in first or second place, but this time at least they’re not targeting Jews, since all Jews are seen as an extension of Israel, and the new Nazis love Israel.

Meanwhile the rest of the victims of the Holocaust, the antizionist Jews, the Roma and Sintis, the queer community, the disabled, the communists, all get sidelined by the so called “Staatsräson”, which is Israel.

Nowadays I’m looking to get the hell out of this hole.

This article is just yet another show of Germany’s superiority complex. Germany wants to be the new Israel. Germans want to be the new Jews. In their opinion, they have more authority to speak on the Holocaust and antisemitism than the victims of the Holocaust themselves.

Then maybe these journalists aren’t doing their jobs properly. They should mention the reason behind it, be it nationalism or risk of collapse. They haven’t mentioned either, which means they purposefully want to leave the reason up for debate. Bad journalism

I’m from an Eastern European country that’s in the EU. LGBTQ people are still getting getting killed, although not by the government’s direct laws, but by the authorities’ unwillingness to take us seriously. I’m active in multiple queer organizations back home (I currently live abroad) and there are countless cases of police officers beating up gay and trans people (not at protests but in isolation, on the streets) with no subsequent investigations. Trans people are constantly brutalized and it is never taken seriously by anyone. It doesn’t even make the news. The government is spewing anti LGBT rhetoric because of it’s anti western stances, and that’s because the western neoliberal movement has coopted our movement and everyone else sees us as an extension of its politics/imperialism. There are also some very gruesome videos out of Ukraine with gay people being tied to trees and whipped with barbed wire. There are also cases of murders that have gone unsolved for years now. The only queer people you see there are the ones privileged enough to have better off families that can fend them from such acts of violence, and even that doesn’t always work. Many in our communities end up committing suicide because of this. And yes, there are a ton of LGBTQ murders even in Asia up to this day. Most of our community is stripped off any opportunity, they end up working as prostitutes and get brutalized by other civilians and authorities alike.

That’s why we, the queer community should stop letting western neoliberals coopt our movements. Our movements are being associated with western imperialism all across the world. Anti-western reactionary governments are using us as a scapegoat in turn. I’m from Eastern Europe and the LGBTQ movement is always associated with “western values”, and every time the west does something nasty, we are the first ones to take the blame for it.

The Israeli security agency shinbet has been notorious in the gay community in Palestine for making fake Grindr accounts and infiltrating underground queer spaces so that they can blackmail queer Palestinians and turn them into moles and informants. Many of them end up committing suicide because they’re stuck between a rock and a hard place. There really is no pride in genocide.

And when will someone finally step in to stop the genocide

Hey, look, it’s been exactly what we’ve been saying it is from the beginning. It’s a landgrab. The liberals will be flocking to claim that this is definitely not just like Putin’s landgrabs in eastern Ukraine, and that it is fundamentally different, either because Israel thinks that a thousand years old book promised them half of the Arabian peninsula, or some other nonsense about Hamas tunnels.

Why not “Israel killed journalists covering the war in Lebanon as they slept”? Israeli airstrike make it sounds relatively passive as if it was an accident. With over 170 if these “accidents” we know that the IDF is either very, very incompetent or they’re not accidents at all

Every single genocide is unique. Not just the holocaust. Including the one committed in Palestine at the hands of the zionists nowadays.

All the IDF reservists must be valid military targets then. And since almost everyone in Israel is required to serve in the IDF, including women, one could argue that there are barely any civilians in Israel nowadays. Imagine all the combatants working in hospitals, schools, universities, and so on. in Israel. Guess one can start bombing those facilities now without fearing they’ll ever harm civilians, right?

Like the other 170 journalists they’ve killed so far for casting light on the war crimes they’ve been committing. Being labelled a terrorist by Israel must be one of the highest titles one could earn in journalism nowadays.
