But the self-interest argument falls apart when you look at it from a cost/benefit standpoint.
I agree, and this is a much better way to define “self interest” too.
I mean not exactly, vim is just one part of it when your whole OS is the IDE.

31·2 months agoI agree, I won’t argue against their usefulness. I just meant disabling them for myself personally. I used to tend to judge posts and comments from their upvote/downvote scores rather than their actual content, now I can see them for what they are, in my eyes. I found that pretty cool and refreshing.

I agree, they are actually really cute.
3·2 months agoYeah, Fedora is a really sane and stable distro in my experience. It supports almost everything that can be supported, I have never had to hunt down fixes for malfunctioning hardware.
Whenever I have to install linux somewhere, it’s either Fedora or Debian depending on how often I want to open the machine. I’m already used to both the distros and their package managers, and both always “just work” for my purposes.
