Yep. All of them. They’re considered a joke at first, but things get a lot more serious when they elect a Pope to run the US. China holds out for a while, but things turn south for them when they legalize conversion to the White Lords’ Church faith.

So yeah. Jesus was brought back to life by an alien. Muhammad spoke to an alien named Gabriel. The Buddha is actually an alien inhabiting a human body (they can do that in the story).

We’re on course to becoming the White Lords’ Church from the VN White or Black.

In that world, Trump is dead by the 2030s. Unrest and political troubles killed an alien attempting to make first contact. But religious MAGA, looking for a leader, decides to support the aliens. They claim that the aliens are angels sent by God, pointing to various events in the Bible as clear evidence of their influence. And then, since the people are eager to overthrow Musk, they decide to sign up with the aliens. Musk and his buddies are all dead/converted when the Church assumes control of the US in the late 2060s/early 2070s. And then they take over everything else by the start of the 22nd century.

The Church is Gilead if they favored Brave New World over 1984. And they’re a lot more stable, and rule a lot longer than Gilead, lasting until the 27th century at least.

Someone probably tried to No True Scotsman the mod. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Or maybe the admins were getting too scary. The politics talk on a sub like that must’ve been immense. There must’ve been lots of bans by both mods and admins there. Eventually, the admins would’ve demanded that the mod get things back on track or the mod will be banned as well.

I wonder what a cage match between Trump and a locust from the Book of Revelation would look like.

It is legal for prisoners to be enslaved - perhaps you missed that little gotcha in the amendment.

If the goal of prison isn’t to turn criminals into better citizens, then why not put all prisoners in a hard labor camp?

Mostly, yeah.

The White or Black aliens are a lot nicer than the Terra Invicta aliens. They only launch their invasion because the religious organization asks them to, and even then, the aliens don’t hurt anyone intentionally.

Looking at the Terra Invicta factions, they end up like this in White or Black:

• Project Exodus never gets off the ground.
• The Protectorate is absorbed into the Servants, as the Protectorate comes to believe that the Servants’ methods are a better way to assert control over the human population.
• The Initiative is wiped out during World War III. Remnants are absorbed into the Resistance and Humanity First.
• As things get more desperate, the Resistance is absorbed into Humanity First.
• The Academy leads a strong alliance of nations in the East, but they are ultimately absorbed into the Servants around ~2098.
• Humanity First is greatly weakened in the early 22nd century, and nearly destroyed in the 23rd century, but small rebel factions continue to exist into the 27th century.
• The Servants control the entire Earth by the early 22nd century, and they take big steps to assert their rule in the 23rd century. They are unambiguously the winner in the 27th century.

The US is most similar to the 2030s-early 2050s US in the Chinese-written White or Black (Chinese variant of Brave New World).

• An alien shows up, and an international team sent to investigate kill it by accident.
• A bunch of aliens show up a few years later, but they’re content to float in the sky.
• After deciphering their language, humanity discovers that the aliens seek asylum on Earth, and they claim that the human race is doomed unless humanity does some immediate course correction.
• “Lol, no.”
• Meanwhile, a group of religious MAGA Republicans (Trump is presumably dead at this point) form a religion devoted to worshiping the aliens, believing that they’re angels sent by God.
• The aliens’ predictions come to pass. The collapsed US is then taken over by the alien supporting religious organization in the late 2060s-2070s.

Fanfic Girls’ Frontline.

I could probably do it if I really wanted to. Create a new account at one of my library’s computers, use a separate phone to access reddit with that account, etc. It’s not worth the hassle though, for me at least. Reddit sucked up way too much of my time. Honestly, it feels like January ended just last week.

If Reddit popped out of existence, not everyone would go to Lemmy.

• Most would go to Discord, Twitter, and BlueSky.
• Some would go to various forums (they still exist).
• Some would spend a lot more time on FB, Tiktok, and Instagram.
• Some would spawn their own copies of Reddit (Voat). The copies all die in a month.
• Some would stop bothering with social media entirely.

Reddit is an addiction. You must break yourself of it.

If Lemmy doesn’t have what you’re looking for, you can typically find what you need on Discord or forums (some still exist).

Remember: Reddit has a lot of Americans using it. So where do all the non-Americans operate? The answer is where you need to go.
