This is a tech that sound reasonably promising, that won’t acidify our oceans (in fact it will counter the current trend of acidification), and cool the atmosphere enough that we don’t all kill ourselves in a global heatwave pandemic. Gives us enough time to find restraint, and build technology that will work within the means of that restraint.

I was working a new role at a brand new site for a company. Working really hard, putting in a lot of effort, really trying to prove myself. I had 5 years of experience in the role, and wanted to move up in the company. Then my supervisor got one of her friends hired in the same role as me, he had zero experience, never done this before… and they were paying him $10k per year more than me.

I decided right then and there, I was never, ever, going to give a shit about work there again. I got a pay raise to match what he was making, but it took like a year, and my yearly raises since then have been far under inflation. I do not give a shit. I wormed my way like a parasite into the easiest position there, doing as little as possible, entirely remotely. and I still feel like a give too much of a shit. If the job wasn’t so easy, and the job market so horrible, I’d probably have left by now but, eh. I’m making more than most, while doing almost nothing. I can’t really complain.

Swimming in my Grandmas pool as a kid was so much fun. But when I was little, and didn’t know how to swim, my mom put pool floaty rings on my arms and let me have at it in the shallow end. Well I wanted to be like the big kids jumping in the deep end, so I did. with my arms straight up. Those pool floaties slipped right off and I was at the bottom in a second. Luckily my Grandma saw, jumped in and got me.

I’ve literally never had an Air BnB owner ask me to do anything I don’t already do. I put shit away, I leave the place like I found it. I clean up after myself, and if the trash can fills while I’m there, I empty it. Always glowing reviews, 5 stars, would have me back again.

Meanwhile I booked a hotel for a short trip back to my home state, and when I arrived, guess what? the 3rd party site I used has no affiliation with the hotel whatsoever, and the place was overbooked by like, double the amount of rooms they had. Went to a different site, found a different hotel, exact same thing happened. Also every hotel that’s a reasonable price, i.e. one that is priced about the same as an Air BnB, is completely shit. Like the door to my room has obviously been kicked in before. They don’t give me fucking towels unless I go and ask for them. Room is disgusting, bed is disgusting, broken TV, shitty everything.

Yeah I’m just not using hotels anymore.
