  • LG C1 is “smart”, but satisfies your other criteria. It has been replaced with newer models, but I imagine the user experience must be similar.

I haven’t even seen it’s smart functions the whole time I’ve had it. I press a button on the Apple TV remote and a few seconds later the TV is displaying the Apple TV menu (connected via HDMI through a receiver). No menus to navigate and no ads that I’ve ever seen, though the first thing I did when I got it was disable all the “suggestions”.

  • For what it’s worth, I have a server with two rj45s (and a third for BMC), but I only plugged one of them into my switch. I run anywhere from 2-8 containers/vms on that server and never felt the need to hook up the other jack. I guess there’s probably some contention of running multiple hosts all through that one connection, but typically I don’t really need anything faster than the ~2-400mbps I get with WiFi anyway. So to answer you question, it depends, but I would generally say maybe start with the one and don’t worry about it unless you’re really moving massive amounts of data regularly and saturating your line. You’d also need to consider you’ll need a switch and other network hardware capable of handling that throughout as well if you’re really going to potentially saturate those ports.

I agree, but I still have this idea that it’s rude to text people unless you have gotten permission first. I think it’s a relic from the 2000s-2010s when not everyone’s phone had texting and if you did text them they could get charged by their phone provider. Obviously nowadays that’s much less of a concern, but still feels like a social grey area for some reason
