Oh no this is probably going to be me. I never made it out of the “tutorial” area and literally just learned about it a few days ago in a different thread. I thought it was boring because the map seemed small and uninstalled it. Turns out I never really started the game.
Our oldest (7) entered public school last year and my expectations for other parents lowered to a point that I never thought possible. I was worried she wouldn’t adjust well or would shut down, but nope the teachers gush to us about her constantly. I’m not patting myself on the back at all because it’s 90% my daughter being awesome and somehow having high emotional intelligence at her age. How proud I am is leaking out.
Shit parents do create shit kids though. The saying is good parents often create good kids but bad parents almost always make bad kids. For example the douche parents at my kid’s school created the kid that steals from the teacher constantly and is in the “trouble room” every day.
I have two daughters 7yrs and 7mths. No one should ever feel bad for not having kids. Especially if they don’t want them.
Your friends are probably just venting (hopefully), so you are hearing the worst of it. Personally, I could never imagine my life without my kids and even though that 7mth old was screaming for a few hours today I wouldn’t swap this life for a child free one. It’s just different paths and you questioning it probably means you are a good person. Introspection is hard.

Totally agree. My kids don’t understand why services like youtube suck so much at other people’s homes. My house is only FF with uBlock Origin and I’m looking at putting in a PiHole soon. It’s insane how bad the internet experience has become in the last decade.
This is my family’s combined income and my god people need to stop thinking we are wealthy. I’m currently staring at a $1000 car on Facebook marketplace to hopefully save some money because I know how to fix it. I am constantly buying cheap shit to afford to live, we are not rich at all. Yep. And using the page feedback button gets you off the list from what I can tell. No response from Google but removes the ad block shenanigans instantly.

I did previously get that “disable it or else” message twice. I just submit feedback that I’d like the link to cancelling my Google services and it goes away for a while. I wonder if just submitting feedback disables the popup because it’s instantaneously fixed.
The boots I recommended are fairly squishy. But they are nothing like most running shoes these days. If you are interested in switching to boots I’d recommend going to a store that only sells boots.
Funny thing is I have the opposite problem now. Squishy shoes give me horrible joint and back pain. I think it’s because the force over time is longer and more damaging. I’m not a barefoot advocate but it’s everyone’s own preference.
The weird recommendation I have is sort of a boot adjacent shoe. Asolo agent evo are my daily shoe. They last at least a year for me and I tear through salomons in 6 months max. Downside to these shoes for some is they are flat with little padding. For some reason I love them and I recommend trying them on if you can find them.
For actual boots I use when I need safety shoes, Danner Vicious with super feet inserts. I’ve worn them for more than 20 hours with little issue. And they are still waterproof 5 years later. They were close to $300 with the inserts.
I also want to warn you that my recommendation is me specific. Everyone is different and some people need to step on clouds to make it through a few hours on their feet, I’m not like that at all.
Boots last years and are more comfortable IMO. Most jobs that require you be on your feet all day require safety shoes anyways. Spend double and get 10x lifetime. Shoes that only last 6 months are cheap garbage marketed to idiots. It’s the same crap with those on cloud shoes, they are comfortable for a month then absolute shit.
System integrator or automation integration. It has a few names. My title is currently controls specialist but that also changes constantly. I install, setup, and program PLCs to run any type of plant automation. I also set up HMIs and stock tracking systems. I haven’t done it in a while but interfacing with SAP used to be a big part my job. Now I mostly just program conveyors and configure HMIs so people can see status without being on the floor.
I started this job by having an MS in ME and taking the first job I could get out of college. It was never my intent to have this career path, but now I kind of like it. It’s crazy stressful at times though. Whole production facility can go down for hours if I make mistakes.
Yep and going around arguing that women are more lonely doesn’t add much to the discussion IMO. It’s not a competition and the output of dying younger is the primary fact we know about gender health differences.
It is a complicated discussion with a lot more inputs than just loneliness though. The anti feminist angle is kind of strange, never thought much of it.
Women are better at expressing that are lonely. From what I understand it’s unclear who is more lonely because men don’t admit to being lonely. It’s probably more important to not argue about and just be aware that old people are often very lonely.

I’m at Disneyland with my family RN and we mainly came because this week was insanely cheap for hotels. My hotel basically touches the convention center and there is almost no one here for blizzcon. It’s dying.
The conversations I’ve overheard are so sad. They all justify simping for blizzard like addicts. So much random misogyny too.

Yeah I’m old enough to have started with candy bar phones. Battery life has been creeping back below 1 day for a while. That motoG power would play music on Bluetooth all day if I started at 10% battery. It could also sit at 1% battery for hours if I didn’t touch it. Getting this new flagship phone is making me realize I value battery life way more than I realized.
Biggest issue with the older motoG was the camera sucked. I think the new version fixed that so I’ll probably go back to it.
Thought my work was bad. We at least can use VMs. I literally can’t do my job without one, Rockwell being what it is. Companies don’t like upgrading PLC software so I need to use old versions of windows occasionally to run old Rockwell stuff.
There was also a bug for a bit that would brick win11 PCs when trying to update PLC firmware, fun stuff.
My previous phone was a motoG power and though it was bulky and a bit laggy the battery life was amazing. It’s I think 3 years old now and I still use it in airplane mode for reasons. The battery lasts 3 weeks when I don’t touch it. Compare that the s22 I’m typing this on which barely lasts 1 day in standby with batter saver enabled. I hate this phone after having that sweet multi day battery life.
They can see the numbers for new shit reddit and old reddit. They haven’t gotten rid of it because it probably still has a ton of traffic that can display ads. It’s extremely obvious that they fucked up with the new design just because the old one has been around for so long
