There was a fad of running things through google translate and back several times until you get something funny.
Has that fad returned with a ChatGPT expand -> contract loops?

US car manufacturers are fighting against the bill. English5·8 days agoI don’t think the customers of small, affordable, useful trucks are the same customers as the cybertruck owners.
Tried to get one at 42 - they required a cola-guard screening first. Requested a cola-guard screening and insurance didn’t cover it until 45. Tried to manually buy one - couple thousand dollars. So basically you can’t start getting screened until 45.

They’ve got decades of regulations in place, so I am not scared that the quality is going to drop.

Two years worth of production is a lot, but they started the war with 70 years of production in storage and have been dumping ~5 years of production per year on Ukraine.

Now a “Blairite” is a slur in British politics due to it’s connotation with the Iraq war debacle. Second biggest modern mistake just behind allowing the Brexit poll and just ahead of the Lib Dems propping up the Tory government.

randon31415@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.ml•China to restrict US film releases after Trump’s tariff hike516·1 month agoDisney used to be very anti-LGBTQ because a high percent of their revenue came from China. Then China recalculated the ticket pricing and how many “foreign” movies could be brought in. You can literally see the about-face in Disney representation of “dressing up and traveling” people as their Chinese market share decreased bit by bit.

Gen Z: Well, ya, Washington had to tax them that much to pay off the debt from the revolutionary war. That was in 1976, right?

randon31415@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is a two-party system considered democratic?3·2 months agoA top-two runoff system is considered democracy. A system where the two parties are just the same thing, like in North Korea, is not.
Americans consider their two parties as very flexible about what they stand for. If there is a big enough group not represent by the incumbent, the other parties’ primary will be biased towards this group.
What we saw this time around, though, was two incumbents running against each other with no room for the non-represented group to be reflected. Thus, to that group at least, it felt like there was no difference (at least in the represtation).
Those that believed that there was no difference are now finding out how much of a difference it was - and they are now yearning for another vote to fix things.
