1·7 days agoI got to use my Netware 4.x admin certification a little while ago. A new customer was having a tangential problem that I overheard, they were still running Netware and couldn’t figure out how to make it work. So I showed them some things and quickly admonished them to get anything newer.
Got a job at 16 selling games in the mall at Software Etc. I loved that job.

7·2 months agoJust started the second bobiverse book by Denis Taylor. They’re a lot of fun.
They can be pretty oblivious in their zealous teaching…the whole missionary experience is just a giant mindfuck. I was referred by one therapist to another colleague because “they’re better suited to help you, they work with combat vets”.

I’ll add my vote for Sid Meyer’s Alpha Cebtauri, it is a masterpiece. If you want to branch out Master of Magic is also quite fun and adds some interesting twists. Though it’s not a Sid Meyer game. There’s even a remake of it.

Time with the wife and kids… Ok, that’s worth the sacrifice, but the in-laws… Oof that’s rough.
Actually, I think it’s lack of accuracy is kind of brilliant. It was weird in the day, but it has allowed the movie to be watchable far into the future without being terrible. Like watching it today the only time it gets cringey is when they specifically mention tech specs. e. g. 28.8 kbs modem. If they would have left that out it would fit in most time periods, by not really fitting into any of them.
