Sure, but even accounting for all that, what do you think would be the votes? 55% and 45% instead of 49 & 51?
Even if it was 60/40, the fact that 40% of people are actively supporting all this means it’s too much.
Yes those problems are real, but that doesn’t mean we should ignore the big big problem of a significant part of population that wanted/wants this even now.
Please stop using that logic. The people that voted is a representative sample of the population, done. Is you’d forced every one of voting she to vote then it probably would have been similar result. Because people that didn’t want to go both will have their vote split randomly to candidates.
Honestly given these two choices, not voting means you’re ok with either.
Solar and batteries (chemical). If we could harness lightening then that’s come without mechanical energy as well. There’s biological energy as well, we don’t have a way to extract it directly as electricity but it exists

Yeah, I think it used to be like that, then because programming paid a lot everyone started wanting those jobs even if they didn’t like actual programming.
But not in the degree it should have happened because there’s not much choice for people leaving.
This perfectly shows what’s wrong in this country (and many part of the world).
People not paying the dues still get the benefits. Personally they save money by not being a member, while benefitting from those that do. But if enough people think like that then the benefits vanish. Our society is just propped up by the majority (sometimes just a few) that understand that and do things for the collective good. But the portion of people doing that is decreasing as we become strangers with people around us.
Exactly the same thing happening everywhere. People are individualistic, they see benefits if they’re the only one doing something. But they don’t see how if everyone does what they did, everyone will end up in a far worse situation.
I wanted to explain this with an example to some people and they just blew it off saying it doesn’t make sense. The example is below:
If you had a button in front of you that gives you a million dollars if you press it (but only once in your life), but takes one dollar from everyone in the world. Now it might be very tempting to press that button. And if you do, you’re +1million dollars. Problem is, if everyone else also press their button, then you’re -8billion dollars. Even if 0.1 percent press that button you’re negative. But if we give this button to everyone, people will press it. And we reach a cycle where even the people that didn’t press it in the beginning will press it once they lose significant money because that’s the way way to at least recover something for themselves. So everyone loses.
I feel like this is how a lot of business models are working right now, they give you that button, and ask you $1000 for that button. You take it, you make a million. The world lost 8 billion into the void. You recover your 1000 and a lot more. And then someone else does it, you’re still positive. More and more people do it, the business is the only one making money. But as 1000s of people do it, you start to panic, then you get all the people that took advantage of it together, try to bribe the business so they stop selling the button to more people.
That’s called a job buddy. There’s no way I’d be using windows otherwise.
So once again the case of “I want good things but I don’t want good things to people I don’t like even more”. Leading into everyone being worse off. Classic US of A
Ok, I’m confused. if schools are funded by property taxes, wouldn’t they be more funded now because the property taxes are higher? Because the property taxes are increasing because the value of the house is increasing right? That doesn’t increase the expenses, all the money should be way more than what it used to goto school in the past
That’s actually what I think of as how the open source works. It’s not that millions of people are working for you to have things all the time. It’s just that instead of making something and letting it be lost in some hard drive they share it. If something has enough interest, use value, and passion from the creator then the work will continue.
Some programs with heavy industry use, or a passionate user base will be successful, but even the niche small programs are there so if someone wants to continue the work they can.
Vs the same little programs from companies that are not open source will be just lost, you can’t get the source and continue even if you want to. Even they will discard the source, or the guy that worked on it will be gone and noone knows anything.
So appreciate open source, even if it doesn’t work for all the cases, it is better because it can continue, the effort isn’t lost. Open source licenses don’t promise future maintenance, they are just available as they are

I honestly think this is one of the reasons AI is so popular with people. We didn’t notice because we have been using ddg, and adblocks. But searching for things in google, and finding any decent sites that’s related and not shoving down ads all over the screen is hard to find.
Then people found something where they just search/ask things and get answers without any of the hassle. If you don’t care about the source, or want to check multiple views then you have what you want. Specially because I think lot of people seem to use google to just find what they already have bias towards.
That’s what I heard and it made sense. You didn’t want the developer or tester to have to progress normally to test things.
But I guess now we have better debug tools, and release builds vs debug builds. Because resource isn’t a problem and we can insert all those extra info on debug build
No one is saying parking lot is a lot of area of the earth. It’s a lot of area of a city.
Cities and areas human live in is very small part of the overall land we have available, because we need a lot more resources than just a house to live in. Even in tribal areas the buildings take barely any land compared to the area they use for agriculture, hunting and things.
The main problem with parking lot is the amount of space it takes within the area we live in, specially for any place people gather in. Making the places people want to gather even more isolated because of it.
Interviews actually cost the company. They have to pay those people interviewing you, and not working for clients at that time. That’s why I don’t see many applications going to interview phase at all. Most applications are just filtered by AI, or some HR and it never goes to the actual hiring manager. And they don’t interview unless they are pretty sure about wanting to hire the candidate. At least the companies without ghost jobs do that.
But HR only interviews are probably different, they might do interviews to justify their job.

When I asked my boss how do I manage 40 hours if I finish some tasks faster than others, they were like “just let me know what that happens, I need to give you more work” lol
Ostracizing used to work because we needed community. Now they will just go on the Internet and find hundreds if not thousands pro approve what they’re doing.
And whatever the “village” did for a person can be bought with money. And people don’t really do free work for you anyway, maybe your immediate family but that’s about it. So people are more and more individualistic.
