i don’t know what happened to us as a society… we seem to have lost all semblance of media literacy.

It takes much longer than that for gas to go bad… I have left untreated gas in lawnmowers, motorcycles, boats etc for entire off-seasons (plus a couple months on top of that) and the gas still goes boom just fine.
