I’ve just taken over a community from the previous mod who has been inactive seven or so months. How do I remove them from the mod list? I don’t see any options for doing so in the community screen.

If that person has made a post or comment in that community then you can open said post / comment, click on the little 3-dot-menu, and select “remove as mod”.

This does not work on comments / posts in other communities or when the old mod simply didn’t interact. Currently it is the only option AFAIK.

I’ve found other posts and comments from within the community to check the options available, and that doesn’t appear for me. Would that have anything to do with them having been made a mod prior to me, like a seniority order?

Are you trying to interact with a post while looking at a list of posts in the community, or did you actually open / click on the post first? Only the latter works. The menu is sadly well-hidden and counter-intuitive.

        EDIT:

Looking at the list of posts: no mod option

Opening the post and then clicking on the same menu again: mod options availiable. MelodiousFunk is not a mod, so there is no actual “remove as mod” option in that drop-down menu, but the removal option should be in that exact same place for you and your inactive mod.

I have the post opened, there’s no options there, I just see this:

Other people, I have the option show up to appoint them:

Both of those are within the posts themselves.

Huh…ok, this is indeed weird then. I was able to remove an inactive mod from one of my own communities with that method just fine a while ago … maybe the most recent update changed (or glitched) something about the process?

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help here.
