Personal Thoughts

I’ve been meaning to check these guys out for years and I’m glad I finally did. This was a really good listen, I’m excited to check out more of the band’s work. My favorite track was Loyalty.

Such a wonderful unique album from gizz. One of my favorite bands and probably my favorite opener of all their albums.

This band was recommended to me because I like stoner rock and doom metal. I made the mistake of listening first to their album Butterfly 3000, which absolutely isn’t either of those things and it completely turned me off of them.

Then their most recent album came out and I realized that they’re just a really weird eclectic group. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I’ve been meaning to check out some of their earlier music since then.

People have made entire flowcharts to guide people towards their ideal King gizzard album.

They are so prolific that they have something for everyone. It is important to find the right entry point though.

Their lastest album is more thrash than doom or stoner. I like all three of those genres, but if you are into the doomy kind of stuff they made an excellent track called “great chain of being”, which is my favorite track off of the album Gumboot Soup.

I’m glad you liked it! I love king gizz. You might enjoy I’m Im Your Mind Fuzz, it’s my reccomendation for an introduction to them.

I’ve seen crumbling castles live and it is absolutely crazy how they get you lost in their set.

I’m glad! Slow jams are some of my favorite slow gizz songs. When they play Satan speeds up live, they break the flute out and it is incredible.

I finally got the chance to see them live this year and it was great, like three different sets molded into one.

Man I love this album so much. I listened to it first in mid-late 2018 and it really sent me down a rabbit hole. Since then, King Gizzard has very much become my undisputed favorite band. Polygondwanaland is still perhaps my favorite album, I go out of my way to make listens extremely special so I don’t wear it out for myself.

I think a more recent album that is closest to Polygondwanaland in concept is last year’s Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms, and Lava where each song is supposed to use a different Greek musical mode.

Crumbling castle is my favorite King Gizz song, and this album is definitely in my top three. Glad you liked it, but be prepared to fall down an amazing rabbit hole!
