I suppose I’m misusing “high concept” a bit: “a show’s premise that is easily summarized with a clear, unique, and often “what-if” scenario”
Foundation isn’t really “what-if” as such. It’s basically a galactic empire run by a genetic dynasty called the Cleons. The rulers are all clones of each other: Dawn, Day and Dusk. “Dawn” is the youngest and learning to rule. “Day” is the ruler. “Dusk” is the elder, and the wise advisor. When Dusk dies as the eldest example, they decant a new clone who becomes the next “Dawn” and everyone else moves up an age notch.
It’s actually quite different to the books, but the genetic dynasty aspect is one of the more fascinating parts of the show.
Does anyone know if this is worth a watch
I would say yes. It has some warts (mostly in the first season). Are you heavily into high-concept sci-fi?
What’s high concept sci fi?
