  • Super Metroid is definitely the gold standard. Zero Mission definitely feels like it uses Super Metroid as its base. The same is also true for AM2R.

I think if you are getting into the series for the first time, Zero Mission, AM2R, Super Metroid & Metroid Fusion is the order to go in. They all share a similar set of gameplay & graphics.

I think the 3DS Metroid II remake is great, but in terms of cohesiveness, it’s going to stand out among the four games.

That being said it’s made by the same developers who will then go on to make Metroid Dread, which is probably my favorite Metroid game behind Super Metroid, which is the best.

  • I love pineapple and really strongly dislike it on pizza. The only time I’ve had “acceptable” pineapple on pizza is when it was chopped up really tiny and I could barely taste it.

My problem with pineapple on pizza is,

    • Hot/warm pineapple is gross.
    • Pineapple makes the pizza watery.
    • Pineapple adds a sweetness that a pizza just doesn’t need. It detracts from other flavors.
    • Again hot/warm pineapple tastes gross.

  • As you mentioned elsewhere it’s encrypted.

Take a look at /etc/crypttab and creating and adding a key file that can unlock the drive.

Essentially your additional SSD will have both a password and a file containing a password that can unlock the drive. When you unlock your root filesystem (I’m guessing at boot) it will then have the key file that can unlock the SSD.

    Something like cryptsetup luksAddKey /dev/pathtossd --new-keyfile /etc/newpassword

Systemd might make this easier to setup nowadays.

Edit: Also, yes, the password to unlock your SSD is just sitting in a file in your root drive. Be sure to restrict it to only be readable by root.

  • My point is that they don’t require permission anymore. Disney does not own Batman in any of his recent work. Batman can pop up anywhere and anytime and Disney does not need to OK anything, they are not involved.

So the argument that the reason we don’t see Batman on TV and movies recently is because of Disney is false. Both because Disney is not involved and because yes, yes we have seen him on both big and small screen recently.

There are no existing articles to support the idea that Disney owns/controls current day Batman.

There are rumors that they do, but even those rumors confuse things like the Gotham TV series airing on Fox having anything to do with who owns the rights to Batman. For example as I stated earlier, an animated Batman show ran on Amazon, that doesn’t mean Amazon owns the rights to Batman either, just those specific streaming rights.

  • I know you’ve said you’re not convinced… But then you also called it a rumor that won’t die?

For Creature Commandos here is a whole interview where James Gunn says Batman again and again. He has made creative decisions to limit his appearance, but it’s 100% Batman.

If course that article isn’t even 100% correct best we actually see a dead Batman earlier in the same series as part of a premonition.

Also James Gunn isn’t just “some guy” he’s the Co-chairman and Co-CEO of DC Studios. This isn’t Kevin Feige having to drag out Amy Pascal or Sony Everytime they mention Spider-Man. This is a clear statement.

Disney does not control the rights to Batman. MAYBE they have some residual rights to older content, but nothing recent.

  • Nothing new

It’s 99% new and different from the MCU. The 1% are small nods to the MCU.

For example in both Peter is out and finds a broken DVD player, then he brings it home and tells May how excited he is that someone threw away a perfectly functioning (obviously broken) DVD player. All the while missing that his future mentor is on the couch, talking to May.

Or as the series progresses we learn that certain events that occured in the MCU also exist in this world.

Overall however it is a completely new Spider-Man. (Yes, Spider-Man interacts with well know Spider-Man characters, but not following any previously written story.)

  • Oh I completely agree. There is a reason it took me a while and careful observation before I figured it out.

I assume it’s part of, or started as, a little password dance. Something like, “abc123DEF”.

Or maybe it just comes from the idea that only a single key can be pressed at a time?

Either way I completely agree, insane.

  • Really hoping for real API access and third-party apps.

I mean that’s the only way it will have any success. I don’t expect it to happen, but that’s historically how any of these sites have grown and flourished.

It would be funny if Digg was able to successfully reboot and take users away from Reddit, however I don’t expect it to actually happen.

Also, stating the obvious, time would be better spent improving Lemmy.

I agree, but it’s more common than you’d think.

I used to work at an organization that used Chromebooks, which replaces the caps lock key with a search key (same shape, different behaviour). I was surprised at the number of people who struggled with their passwords because they would hit the “search” key, enter a single letter, and then hit “search” again. It took me a little while to figure it out because… Who does that?

  • I’m willing to discuss UI/UX issues but that top comment is just stupid.

The first complaint is that “lemmy.world” shouldn’t exist, because websites should be dot com. That’s not a UI/UX issue, that’s just ignorance. As we all know Bluesky has also failed to pickup any users due to its URL bsky.app, you obviously can’t have a dot app website!

The second argument is worth looking at, but it’s unclear based on their comment what went wrong. If you go to Reddit and search for Brazil/Brasil do you just magically find every community you’re looking for? I doubt it. Discovery can and should be improved but this person found an instance before a community?
