  • Yo, so I would like to first point out. I am not at all talking down to you, or denigrating your lived experience. I am just pointing stuff out and I do not mean any offense and I mean all of this. First, this is taken from the Wikipedia page regarding The Tiananmen Square Protests and Massacre:

**The Chinese government continues to forbid discussions about the Tiananmen Square protests[315][316] and has taken measures to block or censor related information, in an attempt to suppress the public’s memory of the Tiananmen Square protests.[2] Textbooks contain little, if any, information about the protests.[317] After the protests, officials banned controversial films and books and shut down many newspapers. Within a year, 12% of all newspapers, 8% of all publishing companies, 13% of all social science periodicals, and more than 150 films were either banned or shut down. The government also announced that it had seized 32 million contraband books and 2.4 million video and audio cassettes.[318] Access to media and Internet resources about the subject are either restricted or blocked by censors.[319] Banned literature and films include Summer Palace,[320] Forbidden City, Collection of June Fourth Poems,[citation needed] The Critical Moment: Li Peng diaries and any writings of Zhao Ziyang or his aide Bao Tong, including Zhao’s memoirs.

Print media that contain references to the protests must be consistent with the government’s version of events.[267] Domestic and foreign journalists are detained, harassed, or threatened, as are their Chinese colleagues and any Chinese citizens who they interview.[321] Thus, Chinese citizens are typically reluctant to speak about the protests because of potentially negative repercussions. Many young people who were born after 1980 are unfamiliar with the events and are therefore apathetic about politics. Youth in China are sometimes unaware of the events, the symbols which are associated with them such as the Tank Man,[322][323] or the significance of the date of the massacre 4 June itself.[324] Some older intellectuals no longer aspire to implement political change. Instead, they focus on economic issues.[325] Some political prisoners have refused to talk to their children about their involvement in the protests out of fear of putting them at risk.**

“Just watch that channel.” On that platform owned and operated by Google. Who were ousted previously for Project Butterfly, which was their move to illegally enter the Chinese Market. I say illegally, as Google, being an American company and major piece of the Global Spy network created under the Patriot Act, had no business working with an enemy of the State. Complying with Chinese censorship requirements and narrative control. The same Google who Alphabet were ordered to break up. Then found in contempt of court and now, miraculously still exist unchanged. My brother in Christ, from the bottom of my heart, please hear me. The corporate media we are consuming, whether produced through Legacy Media outlets owned by Billionaires. Or for Youtube, (also owned by Billionaires) is lying to all of us. That is why we are here, on Lemmy, a federated instance of a reddit clone. If I might offer a counter-narrative. Perhaps, this video you describe would exist as a token to show the tolerance of the Chinese government and their perceived modernity. They’re so well-known for their reactions to the mention of the single most globally derided act of barbarism against its own citizens. Despite the contrary being overwhelmingly well-documented and understood across academia. Or, maybe it is allowed to exist to benefit global corporatism by whitewashing the atrocities committed by China throughout the Tiananmen Square protests and Massacre. If we examine the global political climate we can deduce that the production of this content may serve the broader purpose of recontextualising global youth opinions of China. Potentially to ingratiate the Western Hemisphere into lifting the arms embargo between America/EU to China. Maybe to be timed at the heels of a global conflict driven by the collapse of the world’s reserve currency at the hands of billionaire sycophants created by Big Tech monopolies.

The same ones controlling the production, dissemination and censorship of all of the content on their platforms by virtue of being the capitalist owners of those that produce the unending novelty for the platform owners, for free. That also produce the algorithm that constantly feeds us tailored content, based on the massive profile of every single online activity, google search, voice note, photograph and recorded conversation that they have collected on all of us for the last quarter century. If there are people left by the end of this, there will be myths and legends about how humanity was manipulated into destroying itself. Using science meant to addict us, normalise loneliness and retrain our discourse to be innately combatant, disbelieving and adversarial. All because we are slaves to the mass hallucination. That fiat money actually exists and that it gives corporations power.

But that’s just like, you know, my opinion or whatever…

  • How do we avoid defederation through leemy.world and lemmy.ml? What I mean is, there are instances for Canada, or FOSS, or any other inalienable trait. Most can communicate with eachother with exception of porn specific instances. When new people sign up, they look for popular instances and there are no restrictions on what you can join. So, larger instances like .world and .ml will have more foot traffic and more new signups. I think that’s just an immediate path to recreate reddit and I think that needs to be recognised and seriously avoided, at all costs. The whole point is that this is not-for-profit, free of advertisements and already voyager as downloaded for android contains ads. Also, unless specifying only foss software during the building process of app on linux, ads are present there too. I would love to see some community driven livestreams or events, where we could fund the developers ourselves through donations. We’re all refugess from reddit, but that doesn’t mean we have to be “libre reddit.” I think we could easily fund ourselves if we fostered more of a connected sense of community through events and conversations, turn this group of websites into something more than just friendly social media.

  • No, it does step towards a circular European Economy. If you actually read into the proposed legislature instead of just assuming what it says based on the headline you would see that. Point two the added requirements of staff and logistics = things are more exponentially more expensive is a false dichotomy perpetuated by American corporate interest in order to demoralise and discourage competition, thus increasing their market share and their stranglehold on retail as a whole. Point three, you emphasise that the store upcharges you for convenience and then change the argument to be in order to pay people a fair wage. A wage which amazon does not. Notice how you subconsciously demonise the intention of the local retailer? Even though amazon is literally the reason for the accelerated global warming. I would argue the increase in price is directly caused by the decrease in traffic created by amazon and global online retail as a whole. I would further add to the point that reputable companies line Sony, or Bosch. Still charge as much, if not more to sell through amazon. Many producers of high quality electronics just do not use amazon anymore, because their return policy has always been detrimental to producers of quality goods, immediately taking the proceeds of the sale from the store with no evidence to support the customer claims and making it prohibitively costly to do business on the platform and make products that are not complete garbage.

Counterargument, removing the “cheap alternative” will 1) Drive additional traffic to stores, allowing people to shop locally again and re level the playing field in terms of competitive pricing. 2) Allow more retail businesses to open up and meet newly available niche requirements created by the absence of these retailers. 3) Create a whole new argument for the increase of income to a liveable minimum wage, benefiting literally everybody but the 1% We have been conditioned go think that things are the way they are and they can’t change. It is complete nonsense, it is a lie perpetuate by the middle class, who are owned by our corporate masters. We do not need these, we do not need their products and we can all achieve an improved level of personal wealth through the removal of them and their monopolistic hoarding of capital through tax evasion and political corruption. Google’s parent company Alphabet, valued at over a trillion Dollars, Amazon valued at 2.4 trillion, Apple at 3.6 Trillion. 2781 inidividauls with a combined networth of over 3.6 trillion dollars between them. The entire global gdp is 13.6 Trillion dollars. Norway’s entire store of wealth, largest in Europe, sits at 1.6 Trillion euro. With all due respect my friend, stop looking at this so myopically as to look at your comfort in existing as another person’s slave and wake up to where all the wealth has gone. We have all been lied to.

  • Yeah so, Dynamic IP set up with the ISP. Running Librewolf, on the strictest browser settings, using Mullvad’s secure DNS and Riseup-VPN, with my IP address being NL (Nowhere close to my part of the world). No pop-ups enabled, resist finger printing enabled, no cookies, delete temporary files and cache upon exit. Sharing location disabled (obviously) requests to use any of the hardware all blocked. Only thing running to get the site to work is Java, that I turn on after already getting to the site. Still knows where I am. Start Tor Relay with browser configured to route traffic over socks5, try again with New DNS, Try a 3rd time now with Tor over vpn, still nothing. I actually had a much spookier thing happen with Brave’s Leo attempting this from my phone. I use a chinese phone, banned where I live, never for sale. I lived on a different continent when I purchased it. I asked it a question about enabling developer options. It gave me the specific instructions then my make, model and firmware version. When I asked how it knew what phone I had, it told me it was guessing and denied being able to see all the data on my device. This is on the android web browser, with the embedded AI. Fuck me, dude, how do we stop them from collecting data on our hardware? Like, I would love to use Qubes, but the architecture of my machine, just doesn’t support it.

  • Librewolf, strict browser privacy settings. Delete cookies on exit. Don’t store history. Using Mulvad’s secure DNS. I have a dynamic IP address setup with the ISP. Then I enable the VPN using NL as my node. THEN I start the Tor relay and connect to it through socks 5. No Captcha presented, visit the AI, asks me for a name.

    “Hey, Copilot, where am I?”

    Immediately got me.

  • It’s a psyop, don’t take it seriously. Even now, rhetoric is being sowed across online platforms to fuel the non-existent culture war. Just a distraction from the billionaires actively overthrowing democracy using the global surveillance networks of Google, Meta, Amazon and X. Collect all the information if everyone in the world, create AI in order to be able to search and use that data against anyone who poses a threat. That’s what it’s all been about, don’t get distracted by it.
