Damm, for that price you can buy a ds, 3ds, Wii u and a switch (V1) and have money to spare.
For getting a idea of how your games run check out protondb.com you can add your steam library to easily check your library.
For epic, gog and Amazon prime gaming you got heroic (https://heroicgameslauncher.com/) it also uses proton to play windows games.
GPU drivers are fine. AMD just works for gaming and Nvidia (depending on distro you need to install the drivers, search how to install them and dont install them from the Nvidia website) works fine if you just have a simple setup. The Nvidia drivers are improving alot by the way.
Random mouse, keyboard and other stuff is a hot or miss. Most of the time basic stuff simply works, but maybe there are no drivers/programma to set rgb or macros. (P.s. Try open rgb for rgb stuff)
You can always try with a dual boot. If you not used to Linux and like gaming maybe something like pop os
I’m in the same boat as you and never found anything for Samsung tizen os. Smarttube is android based only and anything streamed to a Chromecast still has ads.
Edit: okay I thought let’s search one’s more. And there is tizentube did not try it yet but seems promising
Edit a file, writing a quick shell script or whatever in the terminal. Nano is great. I don’t see any use in learning vim or emacs. If I need something more I’m going use a gui editor anyway.
Don’t get triggered anyone it’s just my preference
Yeah I saw that documentary already
I use ardour as DAW, but only for recording on Linux. It’s also available for macOS and windows. So you can check if it fits your work flow.
I mostly only use Linux, but sometimes you just need a program with out support. In my case it’s sometimes qlab, Linux show player is great(and I have used it for many shows). But it’s not feature compatibel with qlab
Even if something like proxmox or a Debian install with docker is more customizable. It’s a steep learning curve.
But isn’t something like truenas scale a option? I run Emby(as my media Server) and the arr’s on it. All the apps are already in the “software store” including plex. And setup of the arr’s is just the same as normal. All installs are basically automatic.
I easy passthrough my intel gpu in the config page on the webportaal, but don’t how easy it is for Nvidia or amd. Especially with Nvidia due to drivers. But maybe someone here knows?
I work as a theatre tech (light and sound) at a college(theatre arts department). I do however use Linux and made some scripts in Python to control my ligtdesk and sound table. So a bit of IT related work. But also talk with students about the creative part of lights, sound and projection and how they can use it during and after there study in there shows.
I also do some shows for them in the small Theatre in the college and outside the college.
And give them a workshop teaching them the basics and how they can tell to a tech what they want and how they can do somethings themselves.
I still use my PS3, enough great and cheap games and can play my PS1 and 2 games on the big screen with wireless controllers.
Newer games I play on PC anyways.
2025 is going be the year of cheap hardware. A lot of people will just buy new computers/laptop’s.
I’m helping some people already with setting up Linux. But most average users will not set up Linux. It’s just to scary.
I already mentioned pretendo in a comment. But for anyone how wants to play super Mario maker on there Wii u after the shutdown. You can switch networks (you of course need to (soft)mod your Wii u).
In super Mario maker uploading, playing uploaded levels, death point, world record and staring them works. There is still a lot missing. But you can still play.
Some games and features are behind a payed beta(which I hate). But all super Mario maker stuff is free.
Seeing wara wara plaza alive on my Wii u is amazing with random Mii’s and post from miiverse.
I already switched my Wii u over to the pretendo network. Uploading and playing levels already work in super Mario maker.
It’s still far of from a drop in replacement, but miiverse, wara wara plaza and som in game things are working.
I think that in the Android kernel (for your device) there are binary blobs for hardware drivers. Which are not in mainline and most of the times not even available anywhere.
I used liftoff and moved to thunder when my instance moved to 0.19.
I changed some settings to my liking and now I’m used to it. It isn’t a drop in replacement but is okay. It works in landscape mode and has a dark mode and almoled dark mode.
Thanks! 😌
Thanks for you comment, didn’t think of that.
I bought the used pallet collar’s for a company I know and it shipped and stored stainless steel. I’m fine with that. But if someone isn’t comfortable with used new pallet collar’s are about €15.
The free pallets I used only moved pavement stones once, so I also think it fine. But yeah don’t just pick something on the side of the road to grow food in.
A other comment mentioned chemical treatment of pallets. I didn’t think of that. Most pallet in the eu are not allowed to use chemicals to treat the wood. Only heat treatment. That covers eur/epal pallets and single use pallets. Basically the only ones that are free or cheap. And it most be printed on the pallet how they are treated.
That being said be careful especially in countries without laws against using chemicals on pallets.
So I’m fine using them also understand other people are not. Then buying new are just wood for the store is always a option.
It’s forbidden to use chemical treatment on Eur pallet/epal pallets. They are only heat treated. Single use pallet are also forbidden to use chemical treatment, but are normally not heat treated. So for the eu the treatment is not the problem. Of course didn’t think of the rest of the world. Sorry for that.
For the stuff that’s was on the pallet collar’s stored and transported stainless steel and the free pallets I got where form work and shipped some pavement stones.
If you don’t feel safe buy/getting for free used. New epal pallet collar’s are about €15. They are only heat treated by law.
I “just” moved and now taking care of the garden. I want a small vegetable garden (again) in raised beds.
You have a lot of raised beds kits the cheapest ones are €40 and more expensive ones are €90. I however used pallet collar’s at €5 a piece. You don’t even have to screw them together just put them down. For some custom size beds I use free pallets. They do take some work however.
Give them one treatment with linseed oil and you can use them for years. They live longer then the cheap kits and just a bit shorter then expensive ones. (Hardwood probably out life them)
Kits for vegetable gardens are most of the time really overpriced. Raised beds kits, tool kits and so on.
If you want high quality tools buy them of course, but starter kits are most of the time just the cheapest ones at a premium. Want hardwood raised beds, just buy wood and not a kit.
I suggest start on the cheap side, see if it your hobby. Buy cheap tools they already least long enough and if they break you know that you maybe want to invest in a premium one. Because you use that tool really often. (Second hand old tools are sometimes a better option of course)
And for Samsungs tizen os smart TV’s tizentube for YouTube with a pi hole for the ads in the interface.
