1·2 months agoAFAIK NINA doesn’t work with my camera, but since my mount is within Wi-Fi reach of me, I can move the GTI through the app slightly from inside. My question with that is, how much do I have to/should I dither? Currently, I move the stars so that there is a significant jump on the SLR screen, so I would guess it’s a few hundred pixels in x and y direction.

1·2 months agoIn the final .fit the Red channel has, as expected, the fewest signal, but also the most noise in the dark areas of the image.
In the Raw subs I couldn’t make out a channel with more noise than another.

1·2 months agoI tried imaging with 30 seconds exposure recently on the Andromeda Galaxy and got this result with almost identical noise:

This was 315 subs at 30 seconds so around 2.5 hours of exposure.
So just increasing the exposure did not do a difference.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Could rising sea levels caused by climate change be thwarted by digging a big hole at the bottom of the sea?
191·5 months agoYou could dig a hole to the other side and wait till all the water has drained.
I did both axis every time, not following any specific pattern.
I did both of the images with ISO 1600, 30 sec. exposure and F7.1. My camera and lens are able to go to ISO 25000 and F4.9 at the focal length. For the first image I did 50 calibration frames of each darks, biases and flats, and for the second image 30 of each
I’ve had success with way worse settings. This was taken with ISO 6400 and F6.4: https://lemmy.world/post/25110033 Could it be the difference in exposure? Maybe ~1000 images at 5s is better than just 300 at 30s?
Its gotta be somewhere…
Did that to a Chinese light strip. Not sure it was because I ripped the microphone out, but it wouldn’t turn on a few days later.
The shadow didn’t render properly

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are your favorite games that you never see mentioned anywhere?
7·9 months agoEndless Sky According to wikipedia it is a space trading and combat simulation game. Its free and open source, has a lot of content (even more with plugins). You do missions to get the storyline forward and to get money, you can also mine asteroid, trade with other planets, attack other ships and plunder them. You discover new species and Outfits to make your space ship better, etc.

1·10 months agoNo, not in the flats and biases. I can see some faint stripes when looking through the lights with the display type changed form linear to histogram. On some images more than on others.
I also noticed that the stars are moving horizontally across the images because the guiding wasn’t spot on. Maybe this is just walking noise?

1·1 year agoAnother question: Do you have the tripod that is optional for an additional 100€? Would this work as a everyday tripod to take somewhere or is it too heavy and bulky?
