About your emergency car kit:

A tire inflator (small air compressor) is a great addition. Saves money by not driving to a station and paying to fill the tires. Also, most people don’t pull the spare out from under the trunk floor to check it’s pressure (I’d have to empty the trunk to do so). If I have to use the spare, it’s only a few minutes to fill it up.

Edit: a longer lugnut wrench wouldn’t hurt either. Garages always put the nuts on too tight and the extra leverage could be necessary to change the wheel.

SimpleX seems like a good one. Doesn’t use Google notifications which is great for degoogled devices. Set it to check every 10 minutes instead of constantly and it’s very easy on the battery. Messages come in right away if the app is open, such as when having a conversation with a contact.

Edit: SimpleX is also very easy to use, as simple as Signal. This is important to get non-tech people on-board.

I believe legally speaking, you take the money to the cops and if no one claims it after a certain amount of time, it’s yours.

Of course, I’d be worried the drug dealers, for example, would come knocking for their lost money.

I never used a banking app nor Android Auto. For me, these are not reasons to go with a less secure/private OS.

Most of my purchases are with cash, once in a while I’ll use my credit card so I have no need for a banking app. Usually, I do my banking at an ATM.

As for Android Auto, my phone stays in airplane mode most of the time. In order to use AA, I would have to allow constant cell-tower tracking by turning off airplane mode.

This is the most time consuming part of degoogling.

The next time suck could be finding apps and services you like that respect your privacy. This can go on for years, especially if a service is no longer maintained.

My purpose for existing is not to do your homework. Stop being lazy and do your own work.

I mostly avoid the self checkouts but I have to shop where the best prices are. Truthfully, I use the SC is one store because the cashiers are as slow as cold molasses.
