Can’t be arsed with this back and forth when the information is freely available, the mod logs prior to the defederation shows no mass user ban on their instance. Which is what you would expect to see to justify the defederation. They also said they were defederating because of the fact Lemmy.world and sh.itjustworks didnt require email verification on sign up.

There’s so many things wrong with the way beehaw is run that I don’t even know where to start.

Totally disagree, the more tech savvy can spin up their own single user instances if they want, be fully in control of their own content and participate just like anyone on any large instance bar being defederated. All for basically free

It’s a small foot print for a real user and expensive for bots who are generating enmasse. It worked on Windows 98 PCs so isn’t really an issue like you describe.

Have you heard of hashcash, it’s POW precursor to bitcoin. It stops spam, was originally developed for email but could be incorporated into Lemmy eventually on sign up. Principal is similar to what you suggest.

I bought a QLED LCD 8k Samsung in 2019 and tbh it’s an incredible display because of its high nit count, local dimming zones and AI upscaler.
