Peer reviewed science gets overturned by other peer reviewed science all the time, the other person also had peer reviewed science so you don’t get to just wave yours and win.

And yes your agenda is very obvious, you take the side of not wanting to be in a nuclear war - I think that’s pretty much a universally agreed upon position.

However you also have another facet to your opinion which is almost as universally disagreed with as your other position is agreed with - you think that science should be falsified so it seems to provide answers which suit your social and political aims rather than it being an effort to understand the world and reach a truthful and valid conclusion.

You were very aggressive and rude to someone who did nothing more than provide more context and dissenting evidence in a discussion about science, that’s not a good way to behave.

I know plenty of people that knew him, sure he was a good friend to some but when your whole personality is egotistical attention seeking through violence and disruption then yeah I’m going to quietly laugh at the irony of a shrine which only serves as a reminder to the locals that their life was made a little better and safer.

Yeah, especially in the southern hemisphere, a few centuries later we might have slightly different genetics through rapid evolution via population collapse but we’d probably be back developing with a bit more accurate folk knowledge and probably actually a lot of remembered tech.

There was a guy who used to rev his obnoxiously loud bike super early and super late round my way, it was so loud it would leave your ears ringing even inside with the windows shut.

He died in a bike accident and everyone was happy, so many neighbour’s I’ve barely spoken to shared a quiet comment about it.

We do though get a ride through every year from the chapter of the gang he was in because he died ‘a heros death’ according to them as he had been fighting a different group of manchildren on motorbikes earlier that day and they were possibly chasing him at the time.

The family have a shrine to him by the road (not where he died, just near their house) with empty beer cans, burnt out candles, biker patches, cheap plastic skulls, and slogans about how tough or cool bikers are. It’s a fascinating testament to how we form groups and make our own reality, I think he and they really believe that when we saw him on that stupidly loud bike we wished we could be as cool as him rather than everyone viewing him as nothing but an annoyance.

Don’t worry it probably won’t be long before the houthi rebels or some other terrorist state backed crazies manage to successfully launch an attack on a nuclear power station somewhere then you won’t have to keep hearing about three mile island, chernobyl, Fukushima, the windscale fire, sizewell leaks, or any of the other times nuclear power has gone dangerously wrong.

Thankfully Isreal doesn’t have nuclear power plants because it’s obviously too dangerous, let’s hope Russia, Iran, China, or any other well funded powerbase don’t get pushed into a corner and see funding an attack on a western nation as a viable response. Or some wacky religious group, race war proponents, attention seeking crazies or any of the usual suspects get as lucky as the 911 hijackers.

It’s much better than the alternative, yes cancer rates shot up and a huge area of once beautiful and productive land is contaminated but if we had rooftop solar then rich corporations wouldn’t be able to manipulate us with price spikes and lock us into being helpless without them.

It’s funny a good open source washing machine with wifi could be amazing, would allow for so much more control by letting you modify programs and view diagnostics but proprietary hardware is never going to let you do the good stuff because the you wouldn’t need to buy the more expensive but physically almost identical models.

That’s a flat out lie, I use it for code all the time and it’s fantastic at writing useful functions if you tell it what you want. It’s also fantastic if you ask it to explain code or options for problem solving.

Of course those stories of noble outlaws doing right by the people are fantasy and the reality is a mass of cruelty, rape, theft, murder and violence. They have this idea that they’ll be the tough guy with a gun who can live life however they please because they don’t have compassion for other humans, not the old, sick, weak, and certainly not women, children, or those the work hard to live a good life.

They think that you’re weak for wanting an official body who’s job it is to enforce the rules of society because they love to imagine themselves as an untouchable hero that doesn’t need rules, also they love the idea of people needing them for safety - a woman being able to live somewhat safely through a system of laws and justice upsets them because they’d love to be the strong man with a gun that women have to keep happy and near if they want protection.

Every anarchist autonomous no cops zone instantly gets a gang that act like cops without any of the hard fought and long studied protections for the people - and bigger areas where law governments collapse get lots of these gangs who all fight each other… thousands of years of shitty history lead to the development of established and regulated police forces - yes they’re far from perfect but we need to work on improving them, adding oversight and better training, new systems and organizational structures.
